They didn't remaster any for PS4. Those were for PS3 and a 20 fps port for Vita.
The PS4 version is a PS2 emulated title. It is inferior to the HD collection on PS3. It actually runs at a native resolution that's sub 720p, which is lower res than the PS3 version which also has improved lighting effects not seen in the PS4 version.
OP perhaps amend title to The Precursor Legacy.

TBH I was expecting some sites to be flipping codes sooner. I've nearly plat'd it and God damn. I missed out not playing years ago. Jak 1 is genuinely so much fun, I've got 2 and 3 to get through now as well, thanks PS+
It was my favorite of the trilogy. Very fun as you said.
But the graphcs which I remember being very impressed by on the PS2, really haven't held up which surprises me. I thought the art style would be timeless.
This series needs the reboot attention that Ratchet and Clank got on PS4. A genuinely beautiful game that likely will be timeless.
The Sly trilogy's remaster looks incredible, but I fired up Sly 1's PS2 disc the other week and the same can't be said, like with Jak, it's probably just a case of modern TVs not doing it justice.
I played a fair bit of Jak 2 on the Vita a couple years back and it was fun, but Jak 1 shits all over it for me personally. I'd be down for a trilogy of mascot remasters to be honest, Ratchet is out, now bring on Jak and Sly. I was pretty hopeful for Sly, they did the new one a couple years back and announced the movie not tooooo long after but then nothing, I assume the movie's been canned. I was expecting a Sly 1 remake just like Ratchet with it's movie, but I guess not.
Shame too, because I honestly feel Sly, and Jak as well, to a lesser extent, would be ripe for a movie adaptation.

I got it free with Uncharted Lost Legacy preorder and I have to say the port is disappointing. It does not look very sharp at all. I'm running it on a 1080p screen and it looks very scaled up and soft.
Looks good to me. It's a port of a PS3 remaster of a PS2 game, so I'm not sure what you were expecting.
It's not a port of the PS3 version. It's a port of the PS2 version. The side by sides show the PS3 version looking better.
Port or not, 1080p should not look that soft. It looks scaled like it's running an emulator, which it likely is.
I was expecting it to look like a PS2 game run on an emulator for PC. i.e. sharp graphics, native high resolution.
Instead, it's sub-720p scaled up to 1080p. The PS4 can surely handle native 1080p of a PS2 game.
It IS in the emulator, as are all PS2 to PS4 games. So it's not even a port, it's just an emulator running it, and unlike a lot of cool emulators on phones and PCs, the PS4's PS2 emu doesn't aim to make shit prettier, it aims to just play the things in 1080.
And to be honest, at 23 bucks a pop most of the time, I'd want a (profanity) more than just that and trophies. Especially when the far prettier Jak TRILOGY can be found on PS3 on disc for about that price.

I would argue it doesn't even do a good job of that. It can't run them at 1080p native or beyond. At least in the case of this game. I can't say for other PS2 titles.
This was a lazy emulation job. You're better off using PCSX2.
Yeah, that's because it's emulating the PS2 version and (despite advertising 1080p) the game runs at a sub 720p resolution (4x the original PS2 resolution I think), which ends up being lower resolution than the PS3 version (which runs natively rather than emulated and runs at 720p)
Was rather disappointed by the whole thing, was going to get them all so I can have every Naughty Dog game on PS4 but I'll probably just stick with the superior PS3 versions except for Jak X which isn't on there
It's my fault for not doing the research, but I assumed it was a remaster, not PS2 emulated title. They did go through the effort of remastering it once already, so I assumed it wouldn't require too much work to either remaster it again, or port the PS3 remaster to PS4.
For me it's not a big deal because I got it for free. But I was just offering an FYI for those considering paying for it, and who might also be unaware it's not a remaster.
