Decent Third Party Car Insurance

recently my third party car insurance expired. Now I'm looking for different provider as I'm feeling like AAMI is bit expensive then other option in the market.

I am 27, insurance excess was $650 and monthly premium was $56.50. I used AAMI for last two years with no claim.

Car model- Honda Civic Hybrid 1.3l 4D Sedan VTi 7th Gen
Year- 2006

Much appreciate if anyone can advice me on my new car insurance policy. Thanks in advance

Do an online AAMI insurance quote using the exact information on your premium renewal.

This is the only insurance company that I have ever seen that is address specific. That is, they have a "variable" rate per address, rather than suburb. Even using the exact specifics … and using the surrounding addresses, the price varies by a lot. In my view it is a scam.

You ask them this question, and they try to talk some rubbish and wriggle out on charging you the cheaper online rate.

If you do a quote for your house first and then your next door neighbour's house using exact specifics on your policy … your car, excess … etc. it may be $200 difference + or -

Then call them up and ask them if they can do a better price. Usually, they do better by ~ $70.

If your online quote is cheaper (even using your neighour's address), give them the online quote number and ask them why is the online/neighbour's quote cheaper and why are you paying loyalty tax?

Also try Budget Direct … however read all PDS as they are clear as mud LOL :-)

    Good luck.

    Cheers

Wowsers..you are paying more premium than my car's fully comprehensive insurance (Toyota Aurion 2008).
I am with Progressive online and has been for the last four years. I have made two claims (one major and one windscreen replacement) without any issue.
    Look them up.

You're in Perth. Eastern states pay more.

      • Why's that?

  • I am 27, insurance excess was $650

    The amount sounds about right.

pretty sure justcar TPP only costs 200 pa ?

    • justcar TPP only costs 200 pa ?

      That sounds a bit cheap.

      • I've been paying around $200 for my rx7 and bike for years now. (SGIO)

Edit: just had a look and its $140 and $114 each (after ncb and loyalty discounts) but around the $200 mark initially.

Budget insurance could be worth considering?

Budget or Aus post, same underwriter just go with which one is cheaper. But Budget has better front end support…if that matters.

  • if you trust your driving increase your excess and get comprehensive insurance. Mine worked out that if I didn't make a claim in 3 years then had an accident I would break even with paying a lower excess and higher premium.

  • I went with RACQ for my TPP, worked out to around $240ish for a 2008 corolla.

  • monthly premium was $56.50

wow, you are paying way more than my comprehensively insured 2013 Outlander

    try coles

    • I heard Coles has lengthy process regarding claims. Not sure though

I just do an online search for vero third party (to find vero resellers, >20 of), and compare the cheapest.
Have to redo every year as they jump 20-30% at every renewal.
    I always get TPP for $90 to $120 p/a in WA. NSW I don't have a clue.

I have read so many threads with people only having their party and getting hit by someone who has no insurance and they have no recourse. I suggest getting comprehensive. You should be able to get it for not much more than what you are paying. I have used bingle.com.au they cheap and fantastic when I had to make a claim.

    • My mate suggested me Bingle. Will get a quote online!

This, speaking as someone whose car got hit three times in just over two years. I have comprehensive insurance not because I'll hit someone's car, but that they'll hit mine and they have no insurance (and I don't have the time to chase up people).

I'm not sure cost-wise, but NRMA are great with processing claims fast. I got rear-ended while stationary at the traffic lights last month. 1.5 weeks after the accident, my car was repaired.

  • Don't drive your car until you have it sorted.

I also found that budget direct/bingle weren't too much more than TPP at the time.

    • better way to compare among available insurance product. Thanks buddy

      • To compare among SOME available options - not all of course
I have heard that prices offered through this compare service are slightly higher than going direct
Find the winner and then give them a call

    • Doesn't have nrma or Allianz. Did I do it wrong or does is ot crap?

  • Sorry to revive this, but I'm in the market for new insurance as my car was totaled last week (so only need to insure one car) and progressive has gotten really expensive since renewing 2 times. They are quoting $110 per month for just one car for my wife who has been driving for 20+ years. Going to try bingle. Coles quoted $107 online. Just tried bingle and they only have a standard excess of $795, strange that I can't increase it — but price is good, $89/mo or $872/y
