Anaconda Bike Sale Quality for Hiking

Hi All,

I'm after an entry level road bike, purely for fitness, no racing/competitions.

I've found this from Anaconda website.

https://www.anacondastores.com/cycling/bikes/urban-bikes/flu…

RRP $599 -> $199 it looks like big sale..

Can anyone point out any issues with this bike, or any alternatives?

Thanks

RRP for Anaconda bikes is typically a bit higher than it should be, but for $199 it sounds like a reasonable option. You might find the same value bikes at Reid for about $299 and often at $249 on sale.

    • I remember when a good bike used to cost $99-$199.
      Now these are considered "bargains".

Average prices seem to go around $249, as always, Anaconda has inflated prices of $499 and above.

As suggested below, see if you can find a better bike for cheaper off gamtrii…
….it is only for fitness afterall.

      • It must have been a while since a good bike was $199. I bought a basic bike shop model for about $250, maybe as much as $299 in about 1990. I would consider that a base model from a bike shop be the bottom of the rung as far as a good bike goes. K-mart bikes have been getting cheaper, but they have also been getting worse, particularly the more features they add.

Yes, second hand is the way for that style of bike. People often buy them thinking they will try to get fit and either upgrade quickly, or park it in the shed.

    for fitness

Do you want to be "less unfit" or do you want to be "fit"?

If you want to be fit then get a second hand road bike with clipless pedals from eBay.

If you want to be less unfit then look for the same or similar bike in eBay or gum tree for less than half the price. There are usually plenty around due to people buying them to get fit but then being too busy/it's too hard/bought a gym membership instead(and used twice)

  • Well technically this isn't a "Road bike"

Hard garbage night… literally in my street right now there would have to be 50+ push bikes of all shapes and sizes. There are even about 5 exercise bikes. I was nearly thinking of setting up a bargain post there are so many bikes left out for collection…
