Home and Contents Insurance Recommendations in 2017?

I've currently got the AAMI complete replacement H&C package, which while giving me a bit of security in case I undervalued my property, is coming in at around ~$1600 for the next year. By way of comparison, other five-star Canstar deals are coming up a hell of a lot cheaper (I think Woolworths insurance was around $900 per year!).

So before I make any firm and fast decision about whether or not to ditch AAMI for a cheaper (possibly better) deal, I thought I'd ask Ozbargainers for their recommendations and advice in choosing a decent home insurance provider. What do you all reckon?

Depends on where you live i guess. If i had a "house" i would probably go for the most comprehensive plan possible. In case anyone breaks in etc you wont be recovering anything off those poor struggling cobbas.

  • You might as well quote Woolworths against the AAMI non-complete replacement
H&C Product to compare like with like.

    • Surprisingly enough AAMI's complete replacement insurance was cheaper than the non-complete package. No idea why, but I was happy to take the clearly better deal for cheaper when I compared them last year.

But given the Woolies one is a good $700 cheaper, it's becoming a much more difficult choice…

  • I researched this a few weeks ago and Allianz came up on top. I suggest you check out what they have to offer.

    • I just punched some numbers into the Allianz quote website and the annual price is definitely competitive. I'll compare it and Woolies' insurance on Canstar to see what differences there are
