Airbnb $50 Referral Credit

Has anyone recently signed up to Airbnb through referral? Did you get the $50 bonus?

A family member who signed up through a referrer was hoping to get $50 off their stay (with a minimum $100 spend), but for some reason, their account was not eligible for the bonus, even though they are a new member with a new account.

The following is the message that shows up on their account notifications: Travel credit not applied. Referral credit can only be claimed if they're new to Airbnb.

Any ideas as to why they are not eligible?

    Airbnb think your family member's account is not new. Complain to Airbnb if they are wrong.

      Yep, contacting Airbnb will be the way to solve the issue. OzB can't do anything unfortunately.

      If your family member logs into their Airbnb account there is a Help section where they can contact the Airbnb support people. I have found them helpful in the past when there was a discrepancy in referral credit in my account.

    I recently signed up last month through referral and the $50 credit was automatically visible as a discount when browsing applicable places, to apply it to the booking when paying I had to select it as a discount option though (was not automatically applied). I did have some trouble when the first booking was cancelled (by the host) I tried to apply the credit to a second booking. It showed up all good with the credit applied at the checkout screen but I was charged the full amount and no discount appeared on my invoice. I emailed Airbnb and they were able to credit the $50 back into my account. They said it could take a while but only took a couple days.

    Just send Airbnb a message through the help centre and they will probably be able to sort it out for you.

    On a side note I don't think my partner has received their part of the referral bonus yet (still pending) even though a booking was completed…

      Have you actually stayed in the Airbnb yet? It won't credit the referral until the stay is complete.

        Yes the stay was completed a month ago, I think the reason they haven't credited the referral is because of the mix ups with hosts cancelling and the glitch on payment.

        In all seriousness, we have no idea why they declined it. You're saying its a new account etc

        So in this case, only airbnb will know!

    I think they use mobile, same IP address to track.
    Maybe try with different computer with private mode on?
