Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Vs Dyson Range

So only basing it on its suction power and effectiveness where does a Xiaomi robot vacuum lie on the Dyson scale and how effective is it say compared to a V8 or V6.

I am using gpu or computer hardware comparison logic here so what I am trying to get at or determine is where does the xiaomi robot vacuum capabilities lie because if it maybe only picks up 50% of the dust and debris as say a V6 or DC35 or DC58 then I might go with a stick vacuum..

Having not to worry about anything is nice but if there is still going to be a lot of dust around then for me it is useless.

    porque no los dos

  • New generation was released today, not sure if the suction power has improved but it has more functions

    • Cool I didn't even know they were planning a second one.

  • Youtube is your friend

      But Ozbargain is my family.

      • I think they both suck, but that's just a hunch.

YouTube and ozbargain suck? That's a bit harsh.

  • Doesnt look at that different from the v1 cleaner, except for the mopping function. Its basically more of a sweeper that spins that little brush and then sucks the dirt into its container. From a brief look at the text it doesnt actually mention if the mopping functionality does things like spraying a little water or soap, so i doubt that it does, and there doesnt appear any space allocated for any water container anyway.

My opinion is the robot cleaner is better suited for hard floors rather than carpet, so if you have a lot of carpet i would probably hold back.

The main weakness is the position of the sweeper, and the suction isnt that strong. My hall has a run and theres a slight gap between the wall and the edges of the rug, and the robot cleaner doesnt or cant get the dust in that little depression.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that ANY robot vacuum is on the low end of suction.
Their advantage is that they will maintain a similar or higher level of cleanliness just by virtue of doing the vacuuming far more often than you'd likely do yourself.

There's no overall advantage having the most powerful vacuum in the world if you only use it once a year.

  • Robot vacuums are pretty much always going to have lower suction, the "computer logic" isn't really a good comparison here. Robot vacuums work on the premise of keeping everything clean as they regularly do it so it normally is just keeping on top of things before they get too bad. They all serve a different purpose, We have a Dyson barrel vac, a Dyson stick vac, and the Xiaomi robot vac. They all serve a different purpose. If I were only going to have one, it would be the Xiaomi robot vac, even though it has the least suction of them all.

    • My question is mainly will the xiaomi robot leave some dirt at the bottom of the carpet no matter how many times it goes over because it is significantly weaker than say a V6 or V8 or will it achieve a full deep clean like you would have with a V8 Absolute if it went over many times.

My belief is the strength of the vacuum determined the strength and completeness of the clean.

But if a Xiaomi robot going over the same area 100 times beats going over it with a V8 10 times then I guess for me xiaomi wins because automation.

      • The answer is still pretty much the same, there will always be some dirt down the bottom of the pile, A Dyson would be better at getting it because of it's better suction, the Xiaomi robot vac is theoretically better at stopping it get there because it does it more regularly. How much each one would leave, no one could really know as it depends on too many variables.

      • i have a dyson dc28, and I can say the xiaomi will pick stuff out of the rug after I have just vacuumed with the dyson. Saying that, I could vacuum again with the dyson and still get stuff out.Typical sales trick of the kirby crowd. Very happy with the robot. and family that have borrowed are also. As mentioned before, there are some places like an edge of a rug that gets missed by the robot, or behind the door because you have to leave them open, so really need both

  • 1% concentrated power of will

    Dammit OP.
