Reliable Popcorn Maker

Hi Everybody,

My trusty Kmart popcorn maker burnt out after being used the past fees years…

Went into Kmart, and they do not stock any.

Any recommendations? Was thinking another cheapie, from Target.

What are others using?

    • Lol. Thanks, but I'll pass.

Id rather spend my free time at home, munching on healthy popcorn.

    Pot and stovetop.

    • Thanks…

What is the best way to do it (high heat, medium heat?)

Also, is oil required, as I'm after a healthy way to enjoy popcorn.

Medium to high heat. Yes oil is required. Tablespoon or two maybe? depending on the amount of popcorn.

Add the oil and a couple of kernels of popcorn. When they pop, you know the oil is the correct temperature so you can add the rest. You need to constantly (or at least regularly) be shaking the pot to avoid the popcorn burning. Take off the heat once all the popcorn has popped or the pops have slowed down to only 1 or 2 a second.

It's much tastier than air popped ones, but obviously has a bit of oil, so maybe not what you are after.

  • Never heard of that word in life! Its popcoin lol.

  • Thanks everyone…

Will have to keep looking though - the pot on the stove idea isn't as easy or quick as a machine.

Pot with lid is best, same amount of time or quicker with gas. Pot can obviously be used for many applications (doesnt clutter kitchen with crap) and will last near a lifetime.
