Which PS4 Games Should I Buy?

Obviously this question depends on what kind of games you like, but I've just sold my Xbox one and bought a PS4 Pro and looking for suggestions on good/fun games.

Like racing games, Fifa, first person shooters, GTA type games etc

Not a fan of final fantasy type games.

Any suggestions on games to try, old and new? Anything that was PlayStation exclusive that's worth a try?

    GTA V
    ALL of the Unchartered games
    Tomb Raider
    The Last of Us

Many more but those will keep you busy for a while

To save confusion, they are uncharted not unchartered.

That is pretty much the list of games that I have played. (Plus Pro Evo Soccer and Sniper Elite).

Horizon Zero Dawn. If you have a 4K tv to go with your PS4 pro, it'll bring out the best graphics from the game.

    • Haven't bought a 4k TV yet. Holding out for a 4k projector, which should be available for around 2-2.5k on black friday. Got a full HD projector setup in the cinema room and gaming on 110" screen is pretty sweet.

Will check the game out, thanks!

      • Alternatively, note that HDR looks very stunning. Walk into any electronics store and look at the LG OLED models when you have the chance, see the difference for yourself :)

    • I want a PS4 just for this game and Persona 5

    Minecraft

    • Haha not my style. Thanks anyway.

The Last Of Us would be on top of my list.

Why did you sell your Xbox One?
Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted seem to be the most popular exclusives. The Last of Us and the older Uncharted games are on PS3 but you can get them on PS4 if you haven't played them. Bloodborne and the Last Guardian are also pretty popular exclusives I believe.

    • Wanted to play PSVR. Wish I got a PS4 from the start to be honest, but never did because the bundle deals were never as good. Also more of my friends own PS4s, so it's better for playing Fifa etc online against them.

I will say though that the Xbox one media interface is much better.

PSVR is good fun. Still some way to go before the graphics are top notch, but the experience is really fun.

      • You should pick up farpoint, the controller+game bundle is $89. Link is somewhere in ozbargain.

    Mafia III
    Knack 2 is pretty sweet
    Horizon Zero Dawn
    Everybody's Golf
    Uncharted Series (Is a Must)
    Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
    Infamous Second Son
    Yakuza
    Until Dawn
    Street Fighter V
Driveclub is an ok racer, better in VR

Should be sweet with these, not all exclusives but most are

    Yakuza 0

    Last of Us
    Uncharted

First game I always wanted to try on the PlayStation 4 besides whatever the current top mass multiplayer shooters are was PlanetSide 2 even though it is starting to age a bit now.

Excellent with the controller like most fps games, awesome jump in and squadding interface, free to play with small pay to win but most importantly very large scaled battles with heavy emphasis on vehicle and transport warfare.

Not sure how the population is now especially for Australian located servers but even an overseas low pop should still be fun.

Secretly wish they would do something like that for star wars or the elder scrolls or something fantasy based.

Truly is one of a kind next closest thing is probably battlefront or battlefield.

Used to play it a bit on PC and high pop games were insane on my poor 740m laptop at 1366 x 768 resolution but totally worth it.

    Horizon Zero Dawn
Uncharted 1-4 + Uncharted The lost legacy
    The last of us remastered

These games in that exact order.
Horizon Zero Dawn is so good.

    Big gamer myself, I reccomend:
-Uncharted NDC if you havent played the others they are all damn good though the first one wasnt really anything too special
    -Uncharted 4 Obv
-The Last of Us - I actually havent plauyued this because everytime i go to buy it, theres another gamer on special.
-Metal Gear Solid V: Super cheap these days, someone posted a deal for the definitive edition (which includes GZ) for $13 on the PS Store the other day. Its over now but wont be hard to find
-Batman Arkham Knight - most visually and mechanically impressive in the series but the world tends to be a bit bland and the tank stuff is a little overdone though nowhere near as bad as what people say, boss fights were pretty bad though and that one is as bad as people say
-If you havent played it before, its a little obscure bit it was free on PS Plus the other day and thats Just Cause 3. Its an openworld sandbox game with a strong focus on verticality and physics based destruction. Usual story here, the world and story are bland but the core gameplay is a seller
-Titanfall 2: if you havent played this game its dirt cheap these days and in my oh so humble opinion the best shooter of this generation
-Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy: good if you loved the originals (since it is them) but i found the changed physics actually ruined it for me and im not really one to complain about games too often unless i think they are lazy. Still great value and some nostalgia that everyone seems to like
-Fallout 4/ Witcher 3 if you want something more in-depth and a decent RPG. Also both are pretty cheap these days too, plus F4s GOTY edition just released today or yesterday
-Prey (2017): I feel like people will get shitty with me for saying this but this game is extremely atmospheric and has a pretty unique or interesting story premise. The combat is love or hate and a bit confusing in my books but this is a nice medium between a walking simulator, a light RPG and a story game. Think of it like Alien Isolation but with more to do and a very practical sci-fi setting (which was definitely its main draw for me because I hate the over-fantastical Sci-Fi titles like mass effect) Its really cheap too despite coming out 2 or 3 months ago because people just don't like single player games that much in Aus and it sort of flew under the radar.

I can go on but i think there's enough good stuff here. A rule i follow when i get a new console is if in doubt buy one of the older exclusive games that aren't crap (Knack). Thats because they show the best of the console and are developed to a high standard mosyt of the time, plus they are usually fairly unique.

    EDIT:
Yeah i forgot to mention if you have a PS4 Pro and 4K monitor/ TV/ Display then definitely get Horizon Zero Dawn and Tomb Raider 20th anniversary edition. Both those games are an excellent showcase for the Pro though I honestly think a slight cpu buff and gpu boost are a waste of money considering how few titles take use of this and that the boost in hardware clocks isnt really enough to make games look much better.

Awesome work on the list. Thanks fella.

Dont buy Metal Gear Solid V if you are thinking about it, its free for PS+ Members next month (Games released first Tuesday of month)

      • Yeah what he said I was gonna reply to this and mention it but now you know.

I would say grab the Super Hot bundle which I believe is on sale now. The game itself is a lot of fun, and the PLayStation VR is totally new "story" and levels made for VR and the best fun!

If you are in SA and a heavy gamer consider the swap and play things from eb. The system is old so you can get some great older games.

    Also my favourites list:
    Horizon Zero Dawn
    Last of Us
    Fifa/NBA
    Mass Effect
Gran Turismo is ancient but still better than project cars 1

I know you said you dont like FF type games, but I have to recommend FF15 because its not like older FF type games. its very ARPG and its pretty cheap now too.
    Up to you.

The Division is really fun. It takes a while to get into it and the controls, but once you do it is great. A lot of people give up on it early, but if you stick with it and learn the game mechanics it's worth it. The art work that has gone into creating the city makes it look stunning. You can even buy a book on the artwork design.

GTA5 is good, amazing detail to recreate a whole city and the cars, its enormous.

The Journey is a great short game very different from most other games out there.

Unravel is a cute indie game.

The Witcher is amazing and huge but is a RPG type game so may not suit you.

    Titanfall 2 is fun.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions you bunch of legends.

    Went out after work and bought;

    Titanfall 2
    Tomb Raider 20th anniversary
    Last Of Us
    Watchogs 2

Will get Fifa 18 on Friday from BigW

    • Last of us was probably the best game I have played. I would of given watchdogs a miss to be honest ( there are other free roam games I would prefer). The Uncharted collection really do have a good story.
I pumped loads of hours into Horizon Zero Dawn and just lost interest as it is quite repetitive although looks amazing.

      • Watchdogs 2 wasn't at all expensive (Second hand) and i had GTA V on xbox 360, so didn't want to pick up the same game again (even though the graphics are better)

Played a bit of tomb raiser last night for 2 hours. Not sure how i feel about it yet. The puzzles can be really frustrating at times without using the hints, when you're trying to find the next room, climbable wall etc. I don't have a lot of patience. I'll give it time though to grow on me.

I bought PSVR last week, so i really need to get the Resident Evil 7 VR edition. Farpoint has been good so far, but it can get repetitive, so i find playing in 1 hour doses best.

VR is the future though. It still needs some tweaking on resolution, but the immersion is really fantastic. Sitting in the pub in London Heist is so cool.

        • I was looking forward to Tomb raider. Was going to to try it thinking it might be along the same lines a Uncharted which is fairly split between action & adventure with a few not too hard puzzles thrown in. Oh well FIFA tomorrow.

        • @jjno41:

I have only played it for 1-2 hours, so I haven't given it enough time yet really. I was playing it late at night and tired, so it's probably not the type of 'easy going' game for playing at that time of the day.

I'll defo be picking up Fifa tomorrow from BigW.

    KNACK 2 BABBBBY!

    • was not a fan of the first, but really enjoyed Knack 2…….

  • I might be a bit late but here are some games you might enjoy-

The Crew (1 &2 coming soon)
    Mafia III
Watch Dogs 2 (similar to GTA)
    Destiny 2
    Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Seige
    Battlefield 1
    Tom Clancy’s The Division
    Black Ops III
Knack 2 is definitely a great game , I got it for free when there was a pricing error :)

Those should keep you busy for a while, most of them have multiplayer.
