Nikon D7200 vs D7500

Think it's time to upgrade,
was thinking of grabbing a D610 for the longest time ever.. but to be honest I don't see the point of going Full Frame
The flip out screen on the new D7500 looks tempting, but I cant justify paying almost double the price (yes i know there is other changes)

Having said that, Apparently the D7200 can be picked up for $800 these days,
Yet I cant find any record of it going that cheap and every site I check has it at least $1000

I'm guessing I'm missing checking somewhere then ?

  • You can get the D7200 Here for $820 using POWER20. That's if you don't mind buying grey stock.

    • Thanks for that, I dug through a handful of comments about the shop, really conflicting, a lot say great a lot say bad..
However, ironically enough majority of the bad references are from users with only 1 post and they never posted again..

      • Hmm, I've heard pleasant experiences with e-Global in the past, but I guess anything can happen with Hong Kong companies, always have eBay and Paypal protections if neccessary.

        • I've used eglobal a couple times and been happy.

  • You can buy my d610, I'm planning on selling it soon :)

In all seriousness, what camera do you currently have? The d7200 sounds like a good choice. What lenses do you have currently?

    • I shoot on a D3100 and I outgrew it years ago..but I've been too tight to upgrade
I mainly use a 35mm for most things, and occasionally 18-55

      • Both DX lenses, therefore making a jump to full frame like the D610 even more expensive as you would need to get lenses replacing them. A second hand d7100 cold go very cheap and is very much similar to the d7200, just has a weaker buffer mainly.

        • What do you mean by a weak buffer
Just doffing through the differences and it mainly looks like one has wireless the other doesn't

Oh and one has a higher ISO but honestly I've never shot higher then 1000 so I can't see how the 25,000 ISO would be any benefit

They also talk about ev -2 vs ev -3 that went over my head

        • @letmethefuqin: the buffer on the 7100 runs out quicker. It just means if you take lots of photos in rapid fire the camera will grind to a hault faster and you need to wait to shoot fast again until the camera has sent all the images to the memory card. It's mainly a concern for sports shooters.
The -3 ev just indicates that the auto focus works even when it's quite dark. The AF module is the same between the two cameras, the newer camera is just an updated version so in theory will be slightly better. The 7100 can still focus in tough lighting.
Overall there weren't many differences between those two models.

        • @Dan83:
Considering I don't shoot sports, that shouldn't be an issue for me.

I do struggle with low light on the d3100 but I mean, the d3100 is what it is

I was thinking the d7100 would be quite cheaper as it's older then the d7200 but there seems to be only $100 difference 🤷🏼‍♂️

        • @letmethefuqin: what about second hand?
Yeah either of those two cameras should smoke your d3100 for auto focus. Good luck!
