Could You Recommend a Tablet

I’m after some advice on a cheap tablet,
It needs to run Windows pc,
preferably with gps function.
Maybe android as well.
Could anyone recommend one?
Any good sites or deals?
Was looking at under $200

    Under $200? Not a chance…

From a quick google search there is https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10-1-Chuwi-Hi10-Pro-Dual-OS-…

But it looks like a heap of shit.

Windows is probably the sticking point here. Android - easy find.

  • Pendo does make windows tablets and you'll find leftover stock at certain Austpost branches.

They are however shortlived and will most likely fail in a year or two.

I picked up a 2nd hand Toshiba Z10t-a-140 tablet for $230 from Gumtree 4 weeks ago, so might be worth keeping an eye out for one locally.

The battery is showing 6% wear, with no physical signs of use on the device. Came with Windows 8 Pro but was able to upgrade it to Windows 10 Pro. And Yes, it was a legit deal.

    • That doesn't seem like a bad find can you run steam on it and play a few old games on very low settings?

I was in the market not too long ago for a retro gaming kind of Windows pc machine tablet (warcraft 3, starcraft 1, age of empires 2, team fortress 2, etc)

Preferably under 10" but with the slim pickings for full Windows I am trying not to be too picky.

Btw could you tell me what search terms you used to find this tablet on gumtree. I am having a hard time minimizing the amount of search results I am eating getting when looking for some quality Windows pc retro gaming capable tablets.

      • I didn't specifically go looking for this model, but a tablet / laptop device. The best search term for this would be 'Toshiba Z10t' and then check check info on the specific model being listed for specs.

What caught my eye was the 4G capability as work provides a data sim, with access to TB+ of pooled monthly data so when looking to buy a mobile device it's a feature I look for.

Haven't loaded any games on it as I'm using it work/productivity only, but can try a couple over the weekend. I would think it has enough grunt to play the games you've listed though.

The other thing worth mentioning is the excellent build quality, both on the tablet and the keyboard. No flex what-so-ever with the keyboard, as the lower section is made of metal.

        • Damn that sounds like a really good solid product and a steal of a deal. Nice bonus there on the work mobile data I personally would be using it solely either on WiFi or a very little mobile plan as a last resort no monthly pooled TB+ plan.

I guess the weight of the tablet minus the keyboard is not too heavy as I try to steer towards sub 550g tablets now after using an old P7500 Original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for ages.

Moving to a smaller 8.4" ultrathin 310g tablet has been one of the best decision choices I have ever made in the tablet and portability market but with Windows PC options I know the selections are pretty slim.

Yeah if you manage to test out any of those games cheers thanks and please let me know as I am trying to find a good nice retro compatibility type gaming fit for older games mainly as I know asking for more at this stage is kind of beyond our current limits.

  • I'm a big fan of Panadeine Forte
