  • Where are you located? Ikea has cheap frames, plenty of "direct to public" warehouse mattress places that can cut a deal. It is a bit of a dodgy industry - they try to ensure every mattress is different to what competitors sell so that it is impossible to price match.

    • Carlingford Sydney, can you gove some recommendations.

  • The bang-for-your-buck part depends on how you use your bed.

    • For sleeping?

      • How do you not know?

      • I prefer to sleep on a soft mattress, but prefer to do other acivities on a firmer mattress.

So I settled for a mattress of medium firmness.

        • Like sexual intercourse?

        • @SimpleRoger:
          You sir, are correct! haha

        • i thought soft mattress more bouncy, no ?

      Buck-4-bang

  • Sorry hijacking.

Looking for cheapest spring bed on hardest/firmest level that not prone to sag.

    • Anyone gonna respond???

      • the brandwarehouse from ebay $330 queen bed will suit you

many good reviews from here & productreviews site.

        • What about a base, also have you had experience with this mattress, how does it feel, memory foam?

        • @SimpleRoger:

No i don't have exp. on this mattress.

I think there are 2 firmness to choose from - medium & medium firm.

All i know is there are heaps/shitloads of good reviews and raves about this mattress being Bang-for-Buck.

        • @phunkydude: Wjat anpit a base?

        • @SimpleRoger:

          you want base or frame?

you want bang buck then frame/base can get used from gumtree for less than 50 or free.

else, cheap frame from ebay 100 bucks

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Single-Double-Queen-King-Metal-Be…

        • @phunkydude: Do you need both a base and frame? Also memory foam vs spring vs polytherene?

        • @SimpleRoger:

either one, base = ensemble , frame = slats

starting price, frame cheaper than ensemble

memory foam if you want soft like hugging you around
but if you hate sink in feeling, then go hard spring

below is the one i talked about that many good reviews and many raves from here and productreviews

        • @phunkydude: How does differ to a 1000 dollar mattress at king furniture?

        • @SimpleRoger:

          link ? which one ?

you can only compare the material, you can't compare the feel unless you try it

for me, even cushion on floor is good for me because i like it hard.
those $3000 tempur too soft for me

        • @phunkydude: Are you a skinny person?

    Bang for Buck Mattress

So this will be for a brothel then?

    • brothel in Bangkok.

    • You are very helpful.

  • What size mattress and frame base?

Some don't mind single but some like it bigger like a queen or double.

I think I saw some good deals from aldi maybe or elsewhere possibly Harvey Norman awhile back.

    • I would prefer queen.

      • So definitely not a king? Or you prefer bigger is better?

        • Queen is fine, do you know of what to look out for in matresses, also what about the base anything special?

        • @SimpleRoger: base to be honest I would check in person as you cannot really tell from pictures so the construction and strength of the material would have to be inspected first hand unless you have good sources or other reliable user feedback.

As for mattresses there is a huge difference in the level of firmness and the type of mattress build that is used for example some have that extra cloud tuft on the top which some like I personally don't and some are just your standard flat rectangular shaped mattress which I prefer.

Firmness is for me even hard to determine as some manufacturers extra firm might only be the same level as another manufacturers medium firm and vice versa etc.

My tip would be too try first hand in store at any mattress sale shop and collect information and go from there.

I guess since you are more on the skinnier side your preferred would vary differently to me as I am more on the heavier bigger side haha lol so to avoid and prevent future sagging I try to find mattresses with stronger cores and marketed to maybe bigger people.

To each their own some people like a bit of sag some people like rock hard firmness. Figure out what you want or maybe try find what the latest mattress trends is and go with the rest of the market.

Having slept on many mattresses to very very old to brand brand new and everything in between it all depends on you.

I like a bit of age and wear and tear in my mattresses over brand brand new something with a bit of usage and "pre made" comfort.

    Queen Mattress - https://www.mydeal.com.au/queen-size-5-zone-euro-top-pocket-…
    Queen Frame - https://www.mydeal.com.au/hans-queen-size-fabric-upholstered…

Including Delivery to Sydney is $436.50 (give email when you first go to site for an extra $10 off coupon). I bought a similar bed base a while back from them, it still beds well. Cant vouch for the mattress tho, I bought Ecosa mattresses, very comfy.

    • For the frame how much is it to ship, would it be cheaper to get from a brick and mortar, also is there anything special about the frame? How's this mattress, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/307773? Also should I get spring, or memory foam or polytherene?

      • I prefer my memory foam, it has gel lining, thats important as is foam density. I cannot comment on mattresses I have not tried, maybe stumble into a Sleepmaker, and test their Rolls Royce beds, note the features you liked about them, and cross reference known deal sites for bargains with your specs.

All the other stuff you can answer yourself by clicking the link, reading and punching in your post code.

        • What's a good budget mattress with memory foam, does the one you linked have it?

    • Also how sturdy is that frame, looking for one that will last a while.

  • I bought one of those Giselle euro ones on eBay (from oz plaza) double came in at ~$220 during 15 or 20% off eBay store a few weeks ago. I am happy with it but it is pretty soft - feels comfy and luxurious though. can’t beat it bang for buck with pocket springs and a foam layer on top!

    • Hey can you please link? Also do you have any recommendations for a frame.

      • here

That’s the one but I think I got the “34cm” one instead of 32cm. I think they all come with the same base mattress on the bottom and just add extra cushioning in the top so he 32cm mattress should be a little firmer than the 34cm one I got. I’d even consider going a bit less and getting one of the ones around 28cm or 29cm and it should be firmer and more comfortable.

All in all after 2 months now of sleeping on it I’m pretty happy. It’s comfortable to lay in to watch a movie and I get a pretty good night sleep too. Can’t beat it for value.

I’ve just got the cheap fjellse bed frame from ikea - does the trick

        • As a skinny person what cm do you think I should get.

        • @SimpleRoger: No idea sorry. Im 85kg male and usually prefer a firmer bed. As i've said its pretty soft, but still comfortable. If i was to do it again i would go the firmer option and probably get one of the 28-30cm ones. But still happy with what i got and i get a good nights sleep.

        • @SimpleRoger: This is the one i got. its got 6cm pillow cover then 8cm foam and 20cm pocket springs.

Id go for this which is 6cm pillow, 5cm foam and 17cm pocket springs.

One thing to consider too is that the 34cm matress is suuuuuper thick (whether firm or hard) which means i dont have much of the headboard still showing on the bed frame - just something to consider.

        • @chillybags: There are so many similar ones to the one's you linked, is there anything I should be looking out for? Just looking for comfort, mainly soft, and long lasting per buck.

        • @SimpleRoger: can’t comment about bang for buck. Just pick any one from ozplaza which is who I used and wait for a 15-20% off eBay code

        • @chillybags: Also what's the difference between a thick and thinner mattress? I want a soft overall feel. Thanks for all the help.

        • @chillybags: Also how often are these ebay codes, yeah for sure i'll wait for em.
