Ryobi one+ or Ozito Power X

Hi Ozbargainers,

I'm after your advice on whether to buy Ryobi one+ or Ozito Power X cordless tools. I currently have a few corded tools which work OK and a 5yr old Bosch Green Impact driver which is bot holding charge as long as it used to.

I need to buy a few different cordless tools - drill, cordless vac, and will only be using it for home use.

One thing I've noticed is the Ozito has longer warranty (most 5 yrs compared to Ryobi which varies but is around 2 yrs) but is a little underpowered compared to the Ryobi. Plus Ozito is a little cheaper as well. The Ryobi range is much bigger then Ozito but I think its range is increasing.

Which would you all recommend?

Fun fact, Ryobi has increased the length of their warranty for the one+ range to 6 years for the tools and 3 years for the batteries (but you have to register the tool online on the ryobi website). Generally i think the ryobi stuff is better quality than ozito stuff and you have a much larger choice of skins 60+ vs 15ish. On the flipside ozito stuff is quite a bit cheaper, a drill driver kit starts at $99 and skins are cheaper than the ryobi counterpart. My advice would be go for Ryobi if you plan on having a large collection longer term, otherwise go ozito.

II made the mistake of buying this and that bramded cordless tool. Now I’m slowly chaning over to Ryobi One+ - so foolish man buys twice (and has 6 different battery chargers).

However in saying that, if the Ozito has everything you want and others that you may need in the future now and the cost saving is important to you then Ozitio is fine for home use, if budget allows go Ryobi.

I've also made a switch to Ryobi One+ for a cordless drill mainly for convenience and the hope that the battery adapter design doesn't change any time soon. For my other power tools, I have remained with corded Ozito. I don't want to be thinking about battery maintenance when the tools are in storage or short run times due to small capacity batteries.

  • OZITO X …These are an offshoot of the German company Einhell and make high quality powertools just Google the web!.
I purchased another very well known pro drill, the industrial BLUE range …. a dog of a thing, the clutch started slipping just past the warranty end…I think the GREEN ones are better. If I recall what I was told at Bunnings, it was a quite common fault, and the chuck/clutch was only covered for 6 months… not impressed!.

So now have Ozito-X … 2 drills, 1 impact driver, and a sabre saw, all going great. Only negative? .. they are a bit on the noisy side, I think this could be due to metal gearboxe's, many drills are a metal/nylon plastic combo which makes them kinder to the ears!.

Ryobi One+. 6 years warranty. Many power tools to go with the batteries.

  • No Brainer. Ryobi One+
6 year warranty is now more an incentive. Prices will start to be realistic, as I have seen Ryobi sold on Amazon in the US, so Bunning will finally have a competitor.
I purchased an Ozito before, and was very ordinary.

  • I use the Ozito range (angle grinder, circular saw, drill and impact driver) for general DIY home projects and have been very happy with the performance. These tools are very cheap but still of surprising quality.

  • Had a look at the lineup again today and it seems that Ryobi still offers a much more extensive selection of skins. I was eyeing off the 18V belt sander.

But the Ryobi batteries seem to be overpriced (5Ah - $150).

The other big difference between the two is that Ozito power-x-change batteries have a modern slide-on design with flat top like most other manufacturers (makita, dewalt, milwaukee, bosch etc). Whereas Ryobi batteries have an older style design with a large tower that slides into the drill handle. This means that Ryobi batteries and chargers take up a lot more room in your bag. Annoying.
