Amex Explorer 100k points deadline 2nd Oct

Hi All,

So I just applied for the AMEX Explorer's card to take advantage of the 100K points giveaway. The response I got from the website was "Thank you for applying for the Explorer card, we will finalise your application as soon as possible and notify you of the outcome within 5 days".

So it looks like I didn't get approved straight away even though I earn >65K income with good credit history, only thing I can think on what disadvantaged me is I already have the ANZ Black CC which carries a credit limit of 15K.

Anyway, what I'm concerned about is will I still be eligible for the 100K points if my Amex card gets approved?

On the T&Cs from their website, it says "Receive 100,000 bonus Qantas Points when you apply online by 2 October 2017, are approved and spend $1,500 on your new Card within the first 3 months."

Now, does that mean I have to be approved by 2nd October in order to get the 100K points or simply applying before 2nd Oct and get approved whenever and I will still get the bonus points??

Many thanks for everyone's help on this.

I dunno why I keep putting myself in this sort of situation by doing things in the last minute :'(

The application itself is all that is required by the deadline. If you are approved and spend per terms, you will get the bonus points.

        • ahh ok, thanks Bucks.

      • it's indecision, the only motivation to get it done was the deadline

  • Sorry to hijack your thread OP, but does anyone know if I spend let's say $1,500 in one go and then balance transfer it out to another credit card the next day, can I still get the 100k bonus points?

    Thank you.

    • yes as long as the 1500 is spent on eligible purchases.

      • Thanks for your speedy reply :)

  • " "Receive 100,000 bonus Qantas Points when you apply online by 2 October 2017"

Yes, you will still be eligible.
