I recently purchased a Zhiyun-Tech Smooth-Q Gimbal to use with my Moto Z Play and I can't seem to get the gimbal to connect with the ZY Play app (their official companion app). Has anyone else had this problem?
Trying to figure out if it's the app, my phone type or if it's my phone specifically. Gimbal works fine my brothers Nexus 5x and ipod touch.
Try a few different phones. If they all work and yours doesn’t, I would start with the phone. If it works on some phones and not others, look at the commonality between those phones, ie: stock android vs bloatware OS overlays. It may be an app issue. Make sure your phone has all its latest updates done and make sure the gimble has its firmware updates done as well if it supports that.
Search google and see if there is a forum with other users complaining of the same thing and try what they are suggesting.
To me it sounds like some issue with the app and compatibility with the OS, not necessarily the phone itself. If it connects through Bluetooth, try some other Bluetooth devices connected to the phone and see how they work. Same for wifi if it runs on that.
