Thanks @gnv9. I almost missed this one. X fingers I desparately need a new washinging machine.

    • Ah, glad you caught it in time…good luck! :)

      • Thanks I need it after what looks like "won" a PC on the weekend which is probably a SCAM comp hosted on YouTube. It was requesting Paypal deposit for shipping costs. Thou the vibe from the site and googling for their email doesn't give me any confidence. Way to many warning signs eg found a post related to their email offering to sell their channel a few months ago etc.

I've got Gleam looking into it which replay back instanteously. One thing don't mess with me winning a PC, another item desparately require.

        • Yes, sounds very much like one :( By "replay back instantaneously", you mean?

          Was the comp posted here?

        • @gnv9: Appologies typos. Gleam responded back to my email within a few minutes regarding checking the competition out as was a gleam run comp.

After a bit of checking it appears that they might of run a few comps in the past from another channel or those videos where removed.

I sent Gleam an email detailing the suspicous request for Paypal shipping cost thou no mention in T&C's. including all links I've found on FB, google etc etc why I think it's a scam. In hindsight I probably entered due to my frustrations with my PC.

Unless they consider shipping first and when/if arrives I'll pay the $60 US shipping. The promoter sent a follow up email saying would cover the difference.

Lesson is I should of been a touch careful before entering and checking them out.

          requested

        • @GoldernFortune: Right, I get you now. Yeah, definitely shouldn't pay until they send it. I suppose if it's a decent PC and you are in need of one, then it's still a win.

This is why I tend to pick and choose international comps (to post)…it's hard to know which are legit (with the exception of established gaming teams/companies for example) and I'd hate it if someone was scammed in something I posted. I always do a check but there's only so much you can find out.

        • @gnv9:

The PC is worth at least 1,000 USD. Still it's irrelevant I'm calling scam now that I've had a better look at the comp etc.

That's the same advice what Gleam responded back with:
We do ever recommend paying for shipping, it's most likely a scam based on the data you've provided.

I would ask for receipts first, we'll look at the account on our end and take the appropriate action.

I think they meant DON'T EVER.

Agree you need to becareful becare posting. If I'm ever sharing a comp to friends or public I try and check T&C's first and include the basic details.

On FB you can probably spot my posts a mile away. Thou lately I've been lazy and haven't included the pretty icons for the categories. Earlier in year the DB interface was autogenerate my FB/twitter posts to then paste. I've havent touched it for a few months till finish off another DB that feeds it.

Don't get the time to get around to that. Barely get around to all the great posts that you post.

Still working on that database to one day to automatically generate posting. Atm on hiatus the last month It's getting there lingering on reorganising the database layer. Then it's back to the interface which did early in the year to see if any changes required.

If get motivated be nice to have a prototype functioning before the XMAS rush of comps.

Ok back to the last minute rush checking out closing comps and checking emails/notifications for those ellusive wins. Gee I wish could automate that. :)

@GoldernFortune: Haha I don't think you are missing out on a lot, my average isn't all that great :)

Will leave you to it then. I do hope it all turns out well, or as best it can, including with this washing machine!
