  • Nice work, and happy to support a local SA team!

So far so good - I'm subscribed to a product on The Good Guys page that I'm not able to track using Price Hipster due to technical reasons.

      Thanks Jad! 🤝

Creator of Price Hipster here. Just to clarify, the "technical reason" is we no longer track products by URL. It's all well and good until the URL changes. Then chaos often follows.

  • How many sites do you plan to support? Will it be limited to major places?

    • Hi kbw,

We start with major stores to reach more people and we'll be rolling out new store supports (about 50 - 100 stores).

You can leave your favorite stores here and we'll let you know once we support it.

      Cheers

How does Price Delivery have a competitive edge over similar concepts such as CamelCamel or AU Based PriceHipster.com that supports over 100 Australian Stores.

    • Hi @XioamiGuy,

We don't think we have to compete against PriceHipster.com. In contrast, we may collaborate in some ways as the creator @jazoom here 🙌. CamelCamel is Amazon-only so not really related.

      Thanks

      • I failed to understand you comments regarding price hipster. Are you saying you are the creator of price hipster?

        • Nope, I am not affiliated in any way with price.delivery.

I think the meaning was more that I'm also in this community and easily accessible.

As for the competition, I think it exists only in the sense that both services offer price alerts. Price Hipster is an entire product search engine with history etc.

price.delivery seems different in that it takes a URL from the user and watches that page for price changes. The upside currently being a couple of stores not supported by Price Hipster?

          I'm happy to be corrected.

        • @jazoom: just had a look at pricehipster, looks good. Would be better if you could look at the prices for each item over every store. For example searching for Nintendo Switch console has a separate entry for every store it is sold at. If this is possible already and I'm misunderstanding please let me know!

        • @Quantumcat: Hi Quantumcat! You are not misunderstanding. What you describe is currently not possible but it is certainly one of the most requested features. It's an enormous technical challenge to get it right and I am working my way towards it, but it will take time.

        • @jazoom: Could you use the community so the technical issues aren't so insurmountable: e.g. you can let people flag two products as being the same. Once, say, two people have flagged the same connection you combine them in one master listing. The same product from different stores could get likewise flagged. And people could report inappropriate links (e.g. the Neon Nintendo Switch could be classed as a different product to the Grey). If two people report the same inappropriate link a member of your staff investigates and makes a ruling, then if they decide it IS linked the report inappropriate link buttons disappears, and if they decide it shouldn't be linked, then it is no longer possible for users to flag a link (maybe with a sentence as to why to curb possible emails)

        • +1

@Quantumcat: This is certainly possible and that is how the "Report problem" with products works to notify of issues.

That can also form part of the merging of products but it won't be the whole story. We have 5 million products and get new products added faster than we would ever be able to convince people to tag them. I have plans to solve this in a better way, but we're currently at like phase 2 of 5, to illustrate.

        • @jazoom: If you have a blog about how you're solving the problem I'd love to read it.

        • +1

@Quantumcat: I'm pretty active on Reddit too. I have been planning to eventually post some interesting stuff there about Price Hipster at some time in the future.

Any change of adding Bing Lee, Officeworks or JB Hifi? Those would be the ones missing for me atm. Thanks @etan!

    • +2

      Hi @luplter,

Bing Lee, Officeworks and JB Hifi are already in our plan and Bing Lee and Officeworks are supported NOW!

If you can't see it please do a refresh. Officeworks items may take more than 15s to fetch but there is no need to wait, just give a target price and we'll sort it out for you.

JB Hifi should be supported this week as well.

      Thanks

Hey congrats on the soft launch! It's very exciting and scary to release something you've put a lot of effort into out onto the internet!

Just noted a small typo in the confirmation page you might like to fix up ;)

You'll get a confirmation and be send out notificaitons once its price is under your target price…

    • +1

Good catch @Jad, we've fixed it. Thanks for your feedback!

      • Same typo when asked to confirm email address.

        • Much appreciate, westical! We've fixed it. Thanks.

  • Hey guys,

    babybunting is supported.

    Thanks.

  • How often does the system check prices for tracked items? Is it store dependent?

I have a TV tracked, and the price dropped below the target price, but only for one day (perhaps even less), and this did not trigger a notification.

  • +1

Hi Jad, sorry to hear that. We check prices of most stores on a daily basis (MON-FRI mornings) and some on particular days e.g. ww/coles on WED and FRI.

Unfortunately, the system isn't designed for flash sales though we'll update the schedule policy to make sure the prices of following stores will be checked 4 times a day from tomorrow to Jan 2018.

    • DAVID JONES
    • Myer
    • TOYRUS & BABIESRUS
    • Target
    • Kmart
    • Harvey Norman
    • The Good Guy
    • Officeworks
    • Bing Lee
    • JB HI-FI
    • Baby bunting

    Thanks

    • *The Good Guys

That was the one! Luckily I can also rely on Ozbargain to provide notice of such flash sales ;)

Thanks for the quick reply and improvements to your service!

  • Just had a look at this website, "We just need your email to send out notifications" but the only option is to login with Google or Facebook. Can't we just login with email and password? I've never been a fan of those alternate methods of login.

    • Thanks for your feedback. We're a small team at the moment though, the network security is always our highest priority. Passwords leakages happen every month & year and all our team members were Pwned as Adobe & Dropbox hacked. Do you have Twitter/Linkedin/Github or other socal accounts which we can integrate with? Currently we have to rely on those giant tech companies. Thanks

      • Can I just use a username and password like on Ozbargain. I assume if those services are hacked then they gain access to my account anyway. What is there to gain by hacking PRICE.DELIVERY - to find out which products random users are tracking? You don't even need a password to sign up to pricehipster.
Don't mean to sound narky but just don't understand.

        • Hi @leTintin, we're currently working on our Chrome extension and then will add username-password login option next week. Thanks

    It's a sad day:

    Hello,

We will be discontinuing the PRICE.DELIVERY service (au.price.delivery) on May 30th, 2018. If you want to check what you have subscribed please do that before May 30th 2018.

There are other services like https://pricehipster.com which do the similar job so please check it out.

If you have questions about this change, or need technical assistance, please reply this email.

    Thanks for using PRICE.DELIVERY

    • This makes me sad. I know how much work it takes to set up and run something like this.

Where did you see this @XiaomiGuy?

To the price.delivery team, feel free to hit me up for a chat if you want to let off some steam or something. And thanks for mentioning Price Hipster. I hope your users find it can fill the gap.

      • +1

An e-mail was sent out to register users I assume, as that is how I come about this news.

  • +4

Forget May 30th 2018, we managed to survive!! 🎉 Thanks for your support and please keep using PRICE.DELIVERY!

    • +3

      Congrats! That's great news.

    Dear PRICE.DELIVERY users,

Sorry, we sent two extra emails this month but we managed to survive!! With Workswell Australia's help we're able to continue the PRICE.DELIVERY service (at least 10 years 👻) and keep enhancing it.

No action required and we will let you know more details later.

Thanks for your support and please keep using PRICE.DELIVERY

    Sincerely,

    PRICE.DELIVERY Team
