I would be truely appreciately to know how can I have officework gift card at 5% to 7% discount? Would like to have officework price beat and discouted gift card together

  • Silly question but is there anyway to lock in a price at officeworks for a later date (eg layby or something similar)?
Basically I’ll be travelling end of the year and I need to wait another 2 weeks for purchase to be within the 60-day window for TRS.
They have Afterpay but I assume you get invoiced on actual date of purchase.
Officeworks is prefered as I can get another 5% staff discount.

Also, to Touch bar or not to Touch bar? Any users’ experience welcomed!

It would definitely be on sales near Xmas. In case if you can not find 10% off deal, just go to office work and ask them to price beat with ifrog.com.au. Ifrog is normally selling MacBook Pro at 9.07% discount which is not bad deal. I had price beat in City store Sydney, no issue at all.

Touch bar model comes with faster CPU, and if that is you are looking for, go for it. I have 15.4 inch MacBook Pro (2017 model) and I would not pay for 400 dollar just for touch bar.

      • Cheers Jerry, will wait a bit more then.
Re Touch bar, do you find in useful in day-to-day tasks or more like a gimmick?
The extra power and ports help justify the price diff (only ever so slightly), I’m mainly interested in the new flashy technology but made the same mistake with my 3D TV (watched a total of one 3D movie ever since purchase 4 years ago)

TouchBar shits me off. But it's the only way to get 16GB without a custom build (which are excluded from 10% off). That's why I ended up with one on my 15"

touchbar could be useful when broswing Internet. You could of course not use touchbar at all. Not very fancy way to browse Internet thought. Looks cool.

I would say price different is for better CPU and ports.

Go in store, get a quote. Valid for 30 days. I imagine officeworks will price match it before people can price beat. Could get lucky though.

Edit: and too, it isnt a 5% discount necessarily. If it happens that cost price is the 2% (or whatever) lower as what you're paying, youll get next to nothing from your "staff discount".

      • And there should be those $1699 13 inch non-touchbar macbook pros at officeworks still

I was lucky enough to get a custom built late 2015 iMac in May last year included in one of these 10% off promos. Plus managed to get 7% discount off JB gift card to that value so got the iMac for 17% off in total. Pretty happy.

My point is, if you're after a custom build, email a few JB stores and ask them for a quote (as I did) on a custom build and you may be surprised and what they can do it for.

Edit: The store I bought mine from was Caringbah NSW but the guy that quoted me that and processed my order has since moved to the Miranda store.

  • Still so damn expensive but i need one for work after my hackintosh fail attempt so i'll just have to bite the bullet!
