Buying a Note 8 and Galaxy 8+ in The US, Will There Be Any Problems in AUS Using Them on The Telstra Network?

Hey OzBargainers,

My wife and I will be heading to Hawaii toward the end of this month for a brief holiday and were wanting to upgrade our mobiles to the Samsung Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy 8+, both are US branded single sims which will be purchased outright from Best Buy.

We are on sim only plans with Telstra and wanting to know would there be any network coverage and/or download speed issues using these US mobiles here? Mainly concerned regarding any potential issues surrounding Telstra's 4g and 4GX network as we don't want to lose access to this.

Any help or feedback much appreciated.

Cheers

  • How much are you really saving with the exchange rate ? Remember Samsung Australia night refuse to support it and you won’t have the ACL for warranty purposes….

    • Yeah I hear what your saying, we understand the risk about the warranties. We transferred a bit of AUD-USD awhile back when the exchange was around the 0.84 mark. We also have a Best Buy voucher for a few hundred in USD. Savings are not massive but combine that all together will be saving a few hundred on each of the phones.

      • Why do you have best buy voucher if you don't live in America?

        • Gift e-card from relos that live in the USA. Was going to put it towards buying a drone but the wife had to have her say about it!!
