Does Anyone Know What Happened to Belkin WeMo Australia Products?

Was looking to purchase Belkin Wemo light switch Australian standard one. No one seems to have stock for it.

Has Belkin Australia stopped wemo products? Most of the wemo is on clearence sale.

  • Apparently they've cleared out their product line to "make way for new and interesting products" or something along those lines. I managed to snag an insight switch off eBay a few weeks ago, and judging by slow and crappy their app is, it was probably to go back to the drawing board with so many other successful competitors around

    EDIT: found the source: https://ausdroid.net/2017/03/28/belkin-discontinues-smart-io…

  • Thanks @nytrojen and @burnertoasty. Guess I'll wait and see.

Has anyone used this brand ? http://www.ctec.com.au/wi-fi-switches/

I bought a few ctec after reading this article
      https://www.choice.com.au/electronics-and-technology/gadgets…

expensive but reliable, no issue at all, highly recommend.

      • Thanks @wbx0838 looks like you just joined ozbargain…

yes few minutes ago, saw you were asking about this product and just want to share some experience.

        • @wbx0838: welcome to ozbargain. The article states that its $150 each. Is that the price? Does it connect to wifi and can you control over internet and integrate with Alexa or google home?

        • @Stargazor:
I too am currently in the exact same boat, Ive been waiting for WeMo dimmer switches to make it to Australia but they have not. I foolishly bought the American version only to realise it's not compatible with Australian standards (at least legally).

Am very interested in the ctec switches, any updates on how they perform? I would really like Google home integration, is that available?

        • @Stargazor:
Hi Stargazor, Please be aware CTEC were selling their products illegally in Australia as they did not have SAA approval. The matter is currently in the hands of fair trading NSW. This is why their products are currently “sold out”.
If you have already purchased the product you will notice it has a SAA sticker however this sticker is for a different product. If you have any questions please contact SAA or fair trading.

  • Thanks, my electrician bought from electrical wholesaler and installed for me the total cost was around $200, it connects with wifi and controllable via 3/4g and local wifi network. don't know if it integrates with Alexa and GH for the moment, better to check with them.
I have seen some of the smart switches sold on ebay, however, I decided to spend more money as I found out the quality is really different. I was waiting for the new release from Belkin but looks like they won't come to Australia soon. Thanks

  • Wemo have pulled their products out of Australia. I believe you will see them packaged with Apple products.

  • Hi all.. sorry for hijacking the thread.. I found this thread when looking for Wemo Light Switch.
Can anyone please suggest any smart light switch (alternative to wemo light switch)?

  • Like sssutanto, I would love to know what people have found as suitable alternative's as it looks like the Wemo Light Switch was a very affordable option in comparison to other brand quality Smart Light Switch's

    • Me too. Also not interested in the ridiculous prices some of these things are.
It makes much more sense to me to replace the switches than every light bulb. Especially in a room of 14 downlights.

    • TP Link HS 110

      • Thankyou, for $29 on Amazon and ~$44 from everywhere this is a good option for a Smart Power Plug, I can't seem to find any light switch's though :/
