Macbook Air 13" Early 2015 model SSD data recovery

Hi guys,
I would appreciate some help please. I am in a tight spot at the moment.
My macbook has sustained some liquid damage and is unrepairable according to the Geniuses at Apple.
They managed to take out the SSD separately for me in the hopes I can recover the data on it.
I am looking at how I could recover data off it. After doing some google research I found some people used OWC Mercury Elite Pro cases.
But it is quite expensive and I am on a student budget at the moment.
I was wondering if anyone else has any experience in this area and what is the most cost effective way to retrieve data off my SSD please?

Thank you

Depends on the physical and connection size of your SSD I'd assume? Not sure if apple have some weird proprietary thing going on… If it's a standard 2.5" then just buy one of those Orico USB housings things for $10, slot it in and away you go. Thats what I did when I took old hdd's out of laptops. The data/recovery however is another issue. Once you have housed your SSD and can connect it to another Mac, I'm guessing you can just choose to boot from it instead? Log in, save your stuff or backup then go from there.

  • Try to find another Macbook that use the same SSD, I think late 2013 to mid 2015 are the same and then replace it into the other Macbook (just few screws). If you are in GC I can help you.
