Always On Bluetooth Receiver?

Looking for a Bluetooth receiver that is permanently on. Recently bought an amplifier for a speaker setup from the last eBay deal. It has an AUX output and would rather stick a Bluetooth Receiver instead if I ever just want to play music through my phone. Should've just bought an amp with bluetooth capabilities but too late now. Regular bluetooth receivers always turn off after a certain time and I'd rather it be permanently on.

Can't seem to find any local options but this one from Amazon seems to do the trick but it's somewhat pricey at around $35. It's powered through AC adaptor so it's always on. From the comments it looks to be around 0.75W on standby/usage so power usage is very minimal. Any cheaper options out there?

While we're at it, are there any cheap always on Bluetooth transmitters for TVs? If I'm ever using Bluetooth earphones, it's easier for the Bluetooth Transmitter to be powered on all the time as opposed to walking and turning it on each time.

Chromecast Audio. Done. Will always be on and waiting for your phone to cast.

And Bluetooth headphones for TV aren't recommended because of audio lag

    • Good alternative. Are there any upsides to using Chromecast Audio as opposed to Bluetooth? Seems a little too expensive for my needs, unless it has some other features that I'm unaware of.

Never used a ChromeCast, but if it works like how I have my speaker set up, AirPort Express > speakers (allows airplay audio), it uses your wifi connection. thus not putting extra drain on your phones battery.

That is a great point. It would mean I wouldn't have to turn Bluetooth on/off every time.

We have a couple of Logitech Bluetooth audio adapters, which I think fit the bill?

That said it comes to about the same price as the Amazon… $48 at Officeworks or $35 at a ton of other places - so pricematched you'd get it for $33.25 which I know is only marginally less than the Amazon link. That said it seems like a very good quality device, and benefits of a local seller etc.

Has both 3.5mm and RCA in and came with RCA to 3.5mm adapter and an AC adapter.

    • Yeah, I was eyeing that one too. Only downsides seem to be that it makes some annoying sound every time it connects and it's Bluetooth 3.0.

        Yeah the sound is annoying……
