Edit: Well as many of the comments are saying, this is definitely not a gaming keyboard, and if you think that the price is too steep for a non gaming mechanical keyboard, then fair enough. However I wasn't lying when I said the reviews were excellent, the people who own it and use it for what it is seem to love it. Each to their own… maybe we will wait for a cheaper price hey?

I was searching around and found the Xiaomi Mechanical Keyboard on sale at GearBest. What, you didn't know Xiaomi also make mechanical keyboards? Are you surprised? :) The reviews for this keyboard are excellent (as with most Xiaomi products). Seems like a good deal for a good keyboard.

Main Features:
● Aluminum alloy metal panels, mechanical hand-feel
● Red switch comes with delivering low resistance and clicks feedback, as well as 50 million keystrokes life cycle for durability and reliability
● Full keyboard without conflict, fast response
● Multimedia function key combination, having a balance between work and game Edit: shit at gaming
● Ergonomic design can effectively alleviate the long time use of the fatigue

I have one of these and very happy with it.

Thing is heavy, so it'll either survive a war or it was designed to also be used as a deadly weapon.
Stupidly satisfying to type on though.

I miss num keys occasionally, but love the compact size of this thing.

    • is it wireless?

      • Uses a Micro USB cable.
This post says it doesn't come with one, so hopefully you have a spare one!

        • Micro USB or Mini-B (bit bulkier looking microUSB)?

        • I know the product page says it doesn't come with one but if you look at some online video reviews it seems to come with one (micro USB not mini B)

        • Definitely Micro.

I bought mine a few months ago from Banggood for $59USD.
Seems weird that it wouldn't come with one, it was nicely packaged up in the box… But it says 'no cable' a few times on the page at Gearbest

        • @BluBoy:
Damn. Got a mini-B for my old keyboard, was hoping I could do a switcheroo without routing another cable.

Saw at store. Gave it a miss after reading a damning review saying it has very low key rollover

    • +3

but you were at the store and you still went with the review?
didn't you try it out for yourself?

      • +3

Need to be able to plug it into something to actually test rollover though.

      • Noticeable when double tapping when gaming, apparently

      • -2

It is beautiful and heavy. Feels just like my blue cherry switches actually

    • Which store?

    XiaomiBargain

    • Yeah, it's compact. I almost never use the number pad and prefer compactness. Each to their own.

So your personal preferences constitutes a bargain?

19% off is the missing numpad

The computer and cable showed in the picture are not included in the package

Wonder how they're packing that coffee with my order hmmm

    • Haha just removed that line, thanks

    Review as mentioned above: https://www.mechtype.com/xiaomi-yuemi-mk01-review/

    Only has 2-key rollover.

Lol wtf. And apparently if you double tap quickly, it only registers the first tap.

    • +4

That's terrible, even $5 OEM keyboards have 4 or 6. How can you even game with that? Running forward and it won't register the jump key?

      • +1

That's how I understood it lol. Funniest part is how it uses clones of the cherry mx red keys which are typically used for gaming.

    • Literally impossible to CAD on Windows then. Sooooo goddamn stupid.

  • +1

If you ever wondered what if Apple keyboards had depth? This is for u.

  • +4

Why are people saying this is a bargain. they're not even cherry MX switches and only has 2-key rollover as others have said. pay another $15 and get a proper mechanical keyboard!

    • Brokeasses gonna brokeass.

Why you would spend this amount on a keyboard with no name knockoff cherrys is beyond me.

  • +1

Unfortunately it does not have numeric keypad, thus give it a pass.
    2-key rollover is also bad.

    • +2

Some people prefer TKL keyboards. It also allows you to bring the mouse and keyboard in a bit closer which gives a better ergonomic position. TKLs are more for gaming and pure typing.

      • +1

Right. A gaming keyboard with 2 key rollover

        • I'm not defending the 2k rollover. notice how I didn't mention it? My comment above says how i feel about that.

      • TKLs are more for gaming

        Unless you play ArmA.

  • I love my Model M

If anyone does like the form factor of this, you should consider the Anne Pro. It's a bluetooth 60% with RGB available here: https://www.banggood.com/APP-Control-Anne-PRO-Blue-Red-Switc…

Apply the coupon code: ANNEPRO to bring it down to $89.85 AUD delivered.

    2 key rollover

  • Considering it's Xiaomi, I expected this to be better value for money.
