First Time Uber Driver

Hey everyone,

I recently signed up for Uber and just awaiting for my very first passenger, I'm quite nervous and not sure how I'll go (guess I'll find out when I actually drive)

Would like to know your first time experience, good/bad, are you talkative/quiet, do you offer your passangers any drinks/mints etc.

Your very one nervous driver,

Thanks

    Saw this on FB recently:

    Uber Driver: …
    Me: …
    Uber Driver: …
    Me: 5-Stars

    or something similar :)

hahaha no kidding, this will probably be me. if quiet works best, than im all onboard with that.

      • Maybe ask them, if they like quite drivers or screamers?
Offer to go "above and beyond" for a 5-Star review.

  • I think the standard is to offer water to guests so I would buy the cheap 24-pack waters from Woolies/Coles and have them at the ready.

The fact that your nervous means you are keen to please so that is great, sounds like you will be fine!

Thanks for the tip! I’m only nervous about the navigation process. I solely depend on Waze more than my knowledge of where places are. So I hope it works out!

      • So, how'd it go? Can't still be waiting for your first ride?

        • It's been going good, on my second week. Whole process is a hit and miss but overall noy too bad.

        • Do you mean the sign on process was hit and miss, or getting jobs now?

No candy, no drinks, no talk, 5 stars.

  • Clean car, especially inside.
Ask what climate control setting they prefer, don't like when crank up the aircon in summer, heater in winter or don't let any fresh air in the car.
Some neutral music on, quiet, not noisy.
Drive smoothly, no F1 starts and breaks, easy in the corners.

  • how about a wheel of conversation? talk, serious discussion, silence, philosophy, sport, music, geography. —-IDK, some thing different.

  • Turn the music up loud and start singing. Ask them to sing along. Rate their performance at the end.

For a long journey ask if they have a preferred route out of courtesy

  • Don't stress. Just be polite and gauge if the person is keen for a chat or wants some peace and quiet. I drove for Uber for a few months. Don't be afraid to set some ground rules though if people are going to take advantage of you. People drinking in your car (booze) will inevitably end up with either drinks being spilt or empty containers left in your car.

    • What is the most polite way to restrict booze from being in the car? I feel like it's a mood-killer straight away

Personally, if they are outside the car with open containers I asked them to finish them before getting in. If they didn't want to. I cancelled the trip and left them. They dont get charged, I don't get a bad rating. After getting Woodstock and Coke spilt through the carpet and Uber says that the 7 photos you sent them isnt sufficient evidence and they won't give you compensation for cleaning… i decided to not allow it. Personally, if my car is going to be damaged or my own safety is going to be compromised in some way, i couldn't give two shits about people's mood

  • Has anyone got a referral code to sign up as a driver? If you do, please include the bonus when you post…

I picked up a 2013 Passat (A1 condition inside & out) with low km for a steal recently, turns out it qualifies for Uber Select. My working hours are flexible (finish early 3pm or late at 11pm) and I live right next to Brisbane CBD, close to night life precincts, so figure I'm well placed to put in a some hours when otherwise I'd be at home being unproductive.

If I logon as Select, will I also be offered UberX jobs?
