Australian Retailers Are Misleading Customers by Using Fine Print to Refuse Refunds on Faulty Products

Also a heads up for those not yet aware, the new Australian Consumer Law (ACL) will replace previous Commonwealth, State and Territory consumer protection legislation in fair trading acts and the Trade Practices Act 1974.

  • You'd be surprised the number of stupid people that believe something posted in an online retailers T&C's regarding warranty/returns actually supersedes your statutory rights as a consumer!

    Any time you're not happy with a purchase or subsequent service, talk to your local OFT first; they'll at least tell you where you stand! ;)

  • This is interesting. My friend and I have had such negative experiences with IJK computers where products have been faulty and they have told us, they either cannot perform a warranty on the item despite there being an actual warranty, or they ask us to pay a $20 tribute.

    I'm glad these companies are named and shamed.
