OzGameShop - Can I trade these games to JB, Game etc?

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not, if I purchase 3 games from ozgameshop, can I trade these in at JB for their 'trade 3 get the game free' deal? =

I know it's a UK site and their FAQ's say they come in PAL format, but I'm not sure if JB will take them in if they're from the UK.

Thanks in advance

  • I think it depends on how the games on the site are classified. As far as I can see, the classifications on the site are all UK based (eg. 3+ instead of G for General, and they have 18+, we don't). I remember I asked a guy at Game about it and he said it's because of the differences in classification, so they're not supposed to resell foreign versions.

Kinda stupid though, isn't it? I don't see what the problem is, as long as it's in working condition and it's legally allowed to be sold here (and is the exact same version).

So.. you probably won't be able to trade them in at JB.

    • True, but I still see some games sold under non-Australian classification, just that they have the Australian classification stickers stuck over it. So dodgy…

      • Now let see if we can buy those OZ classifications stickers :)
They can do this to us why can't we play their game?

        • According to one of a FAQ you can make the classification stickers yourself using the templates provided from the Australian classification website.

"Will the Board provide the classification stickers?
No, you need to download the markings from the website and have the stickers printed through a third party."

  • well I did a UK game once at ebgames, they saw the cover and said exactly the same thing..Asked the price for normal copy and went into jb hifi without cover. They deducted around $2 and got it at a better price(than ebgames). I think the game was FIFA09.
Yeah it's a bit dodgy but then aren't the retailers ripping you off anyways?

  • some people have gotten away for it, but i guess it really comes down to going in and trying, but GAME and ebgames have pretty clear policies that they dont accept foreign trade ins

    • Never had a problem in multiple eb games stores, I guess some are unlucky

  • Thanks for the advice everyone.. think I'll just grab it from EB/JB with a price match from the Kmart catalogue
