Looking for Bluetooth Speaker Recommendations?

Hi OzBargainers.

I'm looking to draw upon those with greater knowledge on portable bluetooth speakers than I to help me make a decision.

Looking to upgrade from a Jabra Soulmate got for $50 yeeeaars ago now and was thinking of looking for something reasonably on the high end that I will also keep for a long time. What I am drawn toward at the moment is the JBLXtreme which go for around the $300 normally.

What the draw cards are for me when looking at this is it's 40W capacity, 10,000 MAH battery and versatile design. The cons for me are only bluetooth 4.1 (which I understand is slower speeds and lower quality capacity when compared to 4.2 / 5?) and the fact that you can't use a simple micro usb or usb c to charge it (purely for convenience).

Any recommendations are appreciated and I'll happily spend more if there is value in it. Thanks!

    Go listen to a UEmegaboom. They're also designed to work in tandem so later on if you decided to you could buy a second one they can operate in stereo. Each one takes the role of either left or right channel. They sound great too.

      I'll also throw a vote for the UEmegaboom

      I've got a Sony XRS3 and a JBL flip 2 but the UEmegaboom pumps out better quality sound imo

    Any recommendations for a bluetooth speaker around the $100 bracket? Quality of sound is the primary concern for me.
