So I'm really out on which android/iPads are good and what not. The last one I bought was about 4 years ago so pretty lost atm.
Would really like some recommendations as to what may be a good purchase to give as a gift for a cousin. Limited budget of around $350ish.

If you can go a bit more expensive Apple sells the 128 gb iPad 4 mini refurb for $489; this is what I currently have and it is great value at that price. It will come in a plain box and will have a one year warranty. It is the current model of the mini and that is a good amount of memory.

Personally the iOS store has more variety imho and better quality games and usually earlier but it's Apple and a closed environment is still sometimes kind of annoying.
I mean Android and Apple feature wise are very the same I kind of like the luxury feeling of holding an Apple device especially when you know Android is mostly loved for not just its open nature but it's dirt cheap prices it kind of feels home brandy even though it is not really.. as someone who has studied the Android ecosystem heavily for the past few years I can tell you it is good but for me switching it up every so often is always a good idea.
I am waffling a lot now and extremely digressing so I will just recommend Huawei Mediapad M3 from Amazon or Asus Zenpad 3S also from Amazon.
There is even some toned down versions of Huawei Mediapad M3 for nearly half price which are great value but I'm not sure if some of those versions ship to Australia.
Huawei Mediapad M3 32gb 8.4" WiFi only can be had for around $408 AUD total shipped. The Asus Zenpad 3S 10 9.7" is even cheaper at $395 AUD with larger screen size at 9.7" compared to 8.4" with the Huawei and double the internal storage. Both devices have 4gb ram, micro sd slots for expandability and 2k resolution screens.
I own the Huawei because it is lighter and smaller.
Honestly if I had to choose again I would probably get a Windows tablet as it is more versatile for my uses.
Everyone is recommending the Ipad 2017 model - you can get the 32gb for around $450 at Officeworks. If you can wait for a sale you may be able to get 10% or 20% off this.
I'm in agreement here. I think for the $$ an iPad is the way to fly.
Thanks for that. Yeah that model looks good but the 450 is abit of an issue but I hear ya, will wait a few weeks to see if can get around the 380ish mark.

I would highly recommend purchasing an iPad because they definitely dominate the tablet market. I reckon the iPad (2017) or an iPad Air 1 (Or 2 if you need fingerprint) would be sufficient and the best bang for your buck. And they last for a long time due to constant software updates. Goodluck! :)
