  • thanks mate. got blade runner tfc and deadpool as apparently they are actually rendered in 4k not just a 2k upscale.

  • Deadpool's not quite full 4K, but it looks good. :)

Meanwhile, Sully is pure 4K and it looks amazing.

          @shiraj: plonker!!!

  • Whats a 4K player worth these days?

    • +6

About $250 and up, or about a kidney if you want Dolby Vision HDR support.

      Xbox One S

      • I ran Batman V Superman on the One S….. wasn't impressed with the image quality

The first post in this thread is constantly updated with titles which are sourced from a 4K master, and not just 2K upscales

    • Thank you. I used realorfake4k but it's not very updated.

      • Yeah the admin went like six months without updating that page. I thought he gave up

  • Waiting for PS4 update to play 4K bluray

      ? I.e. Forever??

    • any day now.

    • The Pro could/should be able to do it. Imagine if they released an update on the same day Xbone X comes out 😂

      • The Pro doesn't have a 4k blu-ray player in it, so it can't play them at all.

  • Please excuse my noobness, what would the difference between 4k blu ray discs and 4k Netflix?

    • Main difference is audio. Netflix 4K is 5.1 Dolby Digital only.

    • +1

      Good bitrate vs bad bitrate.

      • +1

My Netflix looks superb in 4K and with HDR.

    • The same thing that's the difference between blu ray and 1080p Netflix. One is low bitrate, the other high. Blu ray disc will always look better, however depending on the display, the difference will be more or less noticeable.

    • Thanks all. I'll have to take the dive and get myself a 4k blu ray player and some of these discs to check out the difference.

  • pretty ordinary list, hopefully some of the newer movies will make it to the list

    Thanks OP.
Also worth noting that there are some 4K titles in the 2 for $20 price range as well (Mad max etc.)

  • -4

Waiting for the sales to drop to $10 which should be the right price, $20 is expensive. Look at how much blue ray are worth, in such a short time.

    • Yeah, nah.

    • Have any of them been $10 before?

    • blurays have been out for what, like 10+ years?

  • What titles did you guys ended up with from the 2 for 40?

    • Blade Runner and The Shallows.

  • Good deal here. Thanks OP.
Most 4k films are not completely 4k ie, they are not filmed+edited+all parts of production etc, in 4k .
However Faux-4k is still much better than 1080p . And its best we have atm .
I guess thats what we get for being early adopters of relatively new tech.
If your fussy about which movies are more true 4k than others, there easy to find out info on in google.
If I recall correctly, I Googled something like "Is 4k really 4k" and found lists of which parts of different films are 4k etc.
Eg. Some films are filmed in 4k, then edited in 2k and vice versa.
Hope that more good full 4k content will start coming out soon, but Faux-4k is fine for now 😃
