Recommend a Fabric Couch Cleaner and/or Rug Cleaner

Can anybody recommend a good fabric couch cleaner?

We own a fabric King Furniture couch. Our almost 2 year old loves to stain it. The fabric cleaning kit bought with the couch works well, but is pretty much finished (https://www.kingliving.com.au/furniture/king-care-cleaning-a…) and I'm too tight to spend $59 for more. Wife thinks it's worth it (or it is reasonable in proportion to the couch cost) but surely the ingredients (which are not stated anywhere) are similar another product on the market?

Or can trust Choice and just use one of these (https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/laundry-and-cleani…) which means I can use on the rug stains dear daughter makes also!

Thanks!
DJK

Sometimes you can use dishwasher detergent and a sponge to keep sucking up the stain

    • I've been using baby wipes sometimes haha

Baby wipes are usually pretty good :)

I've used the vanish and orange ones in the choice review.. Both work pretty good, sometimes i do one, then the other.. The vanish one is also really good for getting stains out of laminate benchtops :D

The orange one foams up like a mofo

They're also really cheap, so buy and try!

Wrecking your stuff - thats just what kids do :/

    • Thanks, so no discolouration/bleaching with the two you've tried? That's the main feedback I guess I was asking for; my bad (should have said initially).

I suppose they all cover their butts by saying "spot test first" and each fabric would be different though…

  • Havent noticed any, however you can still get water marks from wetting a small patch and not 'blending' it into the fabric around (ie make the surrounding fabric damp, not wet).. but yeah - spot test first (and let it dry before drawing conclusions).

  • Awesome timing; sick daughter has pooped all over the couch. FML.

    • If anyone is interested, we ended up hiring a machine from Woolies to clean the poop off the couch and the 3 rugs we have, based on the mostly positive reviews on productreview.

The related cleaning products you need to buy with it aren't cheap, but I suppose it's not meant to be a frequent thing. It is super loud like a jet plane so you will want earplugs after a while unless you want your ears to bleed.

Probably do it every year going forward, amazed at how dirty the water is after!
