Windows 10 1709 ISO - Bypass MCT.exe

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10I…

If you hate the Media Creation Tool as much as me, the 1709 ISO is live for apac.

Make sure you don't get redirected using that URL, and if you have problems, use Incognito or iOS or Android to visit the url to generate your download link for the iso.

This is for Pro and Home, x86 and x64, and what ever language you select.

By default, using a PC will redirect you to the media creation tool download page

Clarification of Windows 10 1709 (Build 16299)
Windows has 2 major vetsion updates per year: chronologically from July 2015, and are named as the Year and Month format YYMM, so July 2015 release is 1507. Updates and Upgrades are free. Upgrades are considered Upgrades during these major version changes, and not to be confused with Edition Upgrades.

1507: Release to Manufacturing (RTM), Build 10240
1511: November Update, Build 10586
1607: Anniversary Update, Build 14393
1703: Creators Update, build 15063
1709: Fall (Autumn/Spring for the rest of Southern Hemisphere) Creators Update, Build 16299

Windows Editions (This is your license/purchase)
There were originally 4 Editions on RTM
Home
Professional
Enterprise (Non Retail)
Education
There are now 2 additions for a total of 6, 3 are available to general public retail
Professional Education
Professional Workstation (Server 2016)

Windows Australia Language
Australia uses the en-GB base language, but uses en-US Input Locale.
A download will be required for either English International or English to bring the current installation to the en-AU Locale. The language pack is approximately 23MB.

EDIT:
In true Microsoft fashion, there's an update for it already… the ISO build will be 16299.15 going by the ADK I just installed - so the Windows update catalog will carry 16299.19. 2017-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4043961)
There's plenty of mirrors for 16299.15 as it was the Insider release in september - which is retarded IMHO

Comments

  • So if I just wait and let windows update handle it there should be no problems?

    • Yes, but keep in-mind that its a staggered release so it make take a few weeks, which in itself isn't bad as issues will get identified / resolved.

      • No worries, I only updated to 1704 (creators release) this morning. :)

        • Yeah, this is the 'fall' creators update. If you want it now rather than waiting for some random time when you're doing something important and windows wants to restart your system

I added some version history to the original post for your reference

Or use this direct link for the 64bit download:

    https://software-download.microsoft.com/pr/Win10_1709_Englis…

    • Hi misa, forgive my ignorance. If I download this on a Windows 10 PC, will this automatically allow me to upgrade my system to Windows10 64bit version, at no cost?

      • if you already have Win10. Else use Media creation tool to upgrade from Win7 to Win10

        • Mct for win7 or 8 update is…. Great…

      • Drphods, No. This is only for upgrading an existing Windows 10 64bit to the Windows Fall Creator version 1709

For a free upgrade use this link (verified it still worked a few days ago):

All Windows 10 updates are free. If you have currently got Windows 10 32 bit then yes you can perform a clean install on the machine with this ISO. You can't upgrade a 32bit OS to a 64bit OS though, only clean install.

@misa any Windows 10 install media will upgrade an old Windows7/8/8.1 to Windows 10 with no issues, no need to use that special upgrade link. Just run setup.exe from any ISO or extract the ISO to a folder and run the setup.exe from there and your PC will upgrade and activate no worries. You can also use the ISO to perform a clean install on a PC (choose I don't have a product key during the setup and you can pick Home/Pro) and then after installation it will prompt you for product key and you can enter any Windows 7/8/8.1 product key (provided you have the right Home/Pro edition) and it will activate.

        • Well there you go. Thanks Agret, thought this was no longer possible.

          @misa:

Just be aware, to downgrade Editions will require an installation disc, where upgradingn only requires the product key.

HOME to PRO - no disc needed
PRO to HOME - disc needed

    • Is that your 24hour link? Or did you find a way to get rid of the download token?

@misa Just get them from MS, unless you trust the site, or the hash matches

  • Update FYI, the default ISO now includes all retail versions and variants,

Home, Pro and Education with the Single Language and Europe Variants(N)
