This Virgin Mobile Plan Any Good?

Virgin Mobile have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ & Gear S3 Bundle for $100 with 9GB, $300 Standard international calls & text, 15GB DATA GIFT and DATA-FREE MUSIC STREAMING.
I'm moving to Melbourne next week and new to Australia, so I don't know if this is a good plan and if Virgin is recommended?
Please share if you have any thoughts or insights or even other recommendations.

$100 is paying too much for that.

  • Depends. Virgin's coverage is crap.

If you're going to use a lot of international calls/text then that might be worth it, but with Facetime/etc being free…

For best value I use Aldi mobile

    aldimobile.com.au

    • Don't they just use Optus? Does that mean Optus is crap? Genuine question as I was thinking of switching to Virgin from Telstra also…almost the exact same plan actually.

      • They do use Optus. It really depends on the area, Telstra can be crap from time to time also and I'm in metro Sydney. I think the only time Telstra really shines is out in more rural areas. Although when I went to royal national park the other week Telstra also had no reception…so I'm starting to think they're probably just a little overrated.

  • Woolies plans are better and should have better coverage being on Telstra network…they are cheaper compared to virgin for S8…

  • Most postpaid & prepaid plans give data free music streaming so don't look at that part like it's extra special or anything.
You can get some better plans if you buy the phone outright then get a sim only plan.

Only those on the Optus network IIRC.

  • Maybe I should add that my work place will cover my bill up to $130

Maybe post in the "bargains wanted" forum, saying you're looking for the best phone plan up to $130

      • Good to know there's a "bargains wanted" forum. Thanks

    • That definitely changes things.

You'd want a new phone for that price.

  • Finder makes it pretty easy to compare. Virgin are currently doing a 15gb plan (sim only) for $32/month atm, and Optus are doing 15gb plan with Optus sport (EPL) for $30/month. If you buy the phone outright you'll probably be better off this way, although your work would probably prefer a month to month plan.
That said, the plan you have selected doesn't seem too bad as you get the phone and the watch.

    • As you said, they only pay me back for a month by month plan. So I get any deal I find up to $130
