LG OLED 65 inch group discount idea

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Hi,

Wondering if anybody would be interested in forming a group to buy the LG OLED65E7T model TV. Greater numbers would help negotiate a good price with one of the retailers. Also heard Amazon is likely to open shop within the next month, so great prices for such models should be up for grabs. I am Melbourne based, people from other states should also be able to avail the same discounts by joining the group by means of delivery from the local branch of a retailer.

Cheers.

Not sure if this is a good idea or how it would work, most bargains on here, eBay voucher deals etc are better than any deal you could negotiate in store.

Either way the model you want is a bit of a waste, its main upgrade is an inbuilt sound bar, anyone wanting good sound would have a separate speaker setup or get a separate speaker setup for cheaper than the price difference to the lower model and better performance.

Also Panasonic has become the widely regarded best OLEDs on the market this year with Sony not far behind, they are also priced cheaper than the LGs so might be hard to find many people who would be on board with that model for a bulk order.

Would be hard to find sufficient numbers who all want the exact model tv, at the same time & place. Like the first poster said, my experience is staff rarely move much on the instore price, you're better off waiting for the next 20% ebay promo.

I have to agree with the posters above and below… The eBay 20% off deals on already reduced prices are winning deals vs anything you could get from a retailer…

  • I have managed to haggle and get amazing discounts from stores. It is always a good idea to get it from the stores than from eBay. I don't expect the numbers to be present on day one itself, which is why I am giving it a one month timeline. Watch out for Amazon commencing its local operations within the next 30 days, you will see all Australian retailers running for cover. If you get the E7 for the price of a C7, why not ? The inbuilt sound bar can be muted if you don't like it. Aesthetically E7 looks better than the C7. As I have mentioned, I am only after the LG model, not intending to buy the Sonys or Panasonics. Like minded buyers welcome to join.

    • Spoke to my local JB Hi Fi, they are willing to offer good discounts on this model for the group buy. They didn't disclose the final price saying it will depend on the numbers obviously.

    • Any update on pricing?

I'd be interested in the C but the E is just to expensive for me. Happy to jump on a Panasonic deal as well.

    I would like two 65 C’s.

Let me know if anyone is able to arrange a big discount ..

    +1 for the 65C aswell

  • If there are enough interests in any TVs, I could arrange a deal exclusively for all of you through our site. I would say, if you can get 10 units of the same model, we could definitely go ahead with it.

Biggest issue is delivery - as long as there are not too many people living in whoop whoop, then pricing will be better than the Ebay deals.

  • I will stick to the E, however don't mind haggling given we could place a group order which could be a mix of the C's and E's. Afterall the retailer would only be after sales turnovers, they won't be fussed about the models.

  • don't know if anybody noticed, this week the 65 inch E7's base price has fallen by $500. It was $5995 last week, when I dropped into JB. This week it has been listed as $5495. It had a 20% mark down by TGG on eBay until Monday. Signs of the bigger fish(Amazing Amazon) approaching our shores.

  • 65 inch E7 is no longer sold at JB HI FI
