Recommendations for a Sub- $800 Laptop with a Keypad

Looking to use it for excel modelling and I need the keypad to make things a bit easier on myself. Any recommendations?

    Pretty much any 15"+ laptop will have a numpad, for excel I'd also recommend a FHD 1920x1080 screen or greater, i5/i7 and 8GB ram

    Don't have any specific recommendations though sorry

    • Is there a reason you'd suggest FHD for excel? Also should the wait for 8th gen be worth it in my case?

      Thanks for the reply btw.

        Fhd will give you a lot more working space on the screen ie display more rows/columns at once, where as a 15" low res screen will end up making everything bigger but not give you more screen real estate. Will look like you're using a home computer for work.

        CPU wise, 8th gen will get you a quad core which will help for complex excel calculations especially if you run iterative macros, otherwise basic excel probably won't see much difference
        .
        As below another option is adding a USB numpad to any laptop instead. If you went this route I could recommend a refurbished Dell latitude 7000 14" for around $800 for the Dell outlet. Quite a few institutions use these

        • I just had a look at the prices of Latitudes on Dell Outlet. It appears that most laptops are above the $1000. Just curious if these are inflated prices?

          @MasterNoob:

          I can't see an 14 7000's on there right now, depends on what they have in stock but they do come up often, just check every couple of days.

  • You can always get a separate numpad that plugs into a USB slot
