280k Gateway MR Points for Two Specific Flights

Hi all,

Apologies for the double post, but I can't seem to wrap my head around how award flights work.

If I'm looking to book:
SYD —> LA (29th November)
RIO —> SYD (15th February)

How should I find the best FF program through which to use my points? After going through award hacker I can't seem to find any availability.

Are you talking economy or a higher class?

SYD-LAX in business is hard to find availability on 330 days out from a flight, let alone 40 days out. Economy should be easier to find, but IMO would be a waste of your points.
