Samsung Galaxy S8 photo stamp dates

Hi all,

I've got a Galaxy S8 Plus. For a while now, I notice that some of the photos on my Gallery suddenly changed it's date to 19 Jan 2038. No idea how this is happening.

Anyone else getting this issue? Does anyone know why this is happening?

  • Did you teleport into the future for a bit?

    • I may have travelled to the future and taken some photos.

  • Marty?…….Doc?…….

    • Personally not a fan of Delorean's though.

  • The time stamp means the last second of current 32bit epoch time. Current 32bit linux epoch time will overflow on 19 Jan 2038.

    • Do you have any idea why some of my photos are future dating themselves?

  • +1

According to here.. its a common problem and you can disable tag location in Samsung Camera App as a temporary fix. Also you can download QuickPic and use the fix date function in settings of this app to fix dates of old photos that have been taken (hopefully)

  • I had this happen to some of my photos but couldn't be bothered doing anything about it. Seems to have affected about 4 photos taken at a wedding in August.

    • It started with a few then over time more and more gets this new date stamp. So all new photos you just took, you'll then need to scroll down because the future dates photos are all on top.
