As long as it complies with the rules: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller Note the requirement: Tax invoices of AUD 1000 or more in value must contain your identity (name, address, email or passport number).

A 'pretty good' invoice? As opposed to…?

    • An ugly bad invoice?

    • It has pretty much everything on it?

Edit: except the word tax invoice?

That invoice has no GST on it. Assuming the iphone invoice is the same, you won't be able to claim TRS on it.

        • Well that invoice has no GST because the goods were free so the GST line was present but $0. But the iPhone invoice may be a grey import and no GST charged. OP should ask Kogan instead of extrapolating from an invoice for a freebie.

      • Looks like a standard tax invoice to me…

There are two types of invoices you could receive from Kogan. Just depends if it's supplied by Kogan Australia or Kogan HK. Don't assume.

Don't they sell iPhones cheap because they are grey imports and shipped from HK, so you won't get a tax invoice with GST on it?

    • I am not really sure. But the invoice has abn on it.

All Australian businesses must quote ABN on correspondence. What matters is whether you paid GST.

  • Can you request a specific tax invoice to be generated by Kogan? (assuming you paid GST)

    • I left them a message let's see how will it go.

      • Do you have any update? I am in a similar situation

They said iPhones are direct import and do not have GST therefore they cant be claimed. I ended up buying on apple store instead.

I have a suggestion for you and let me know how it worked
          1. Search for JB hifi gift card on gumtree. You can buy $1000 for $950 and make the trade via store.
          2. Tell jb hifi that you are claiming the TRS and they will fix the receipt for you.

          You will have $50 discount + 10% GST (100) and saved $150

        • @Afrozenminute: Wow .. cool. Thanks for the information
