Used Car under 8k, Help Me Please

Good day fellow Ozbargainers,

My gf is wanting to change her car from 2013 fiesta to something else. something bit more bigger but not too big. maybe some features like parking sensors, nav, auto lights.

dont care about body type.

cruise control is must. cheap to run. 100kw+ , 2004+ and under 180000kms. auto

give me some suggestions please with personal experience with the car.

Why don't you put all those criteria you listed on carsales.com.au & you'll have plenty of results

    honda accord 2007
    toyota camry 2007

both under 100,000KM you will get for 8k if you negotiate well . parking sensors you will get on models starting 2008 but it will cost you more

    • Thank you :)
im sure toyota is cheap to run, how about honda servicing and fuel cost?

      • Toyota is the way to go.

        How about a corolla?

        • i like the 2008+ corolla .. I noticed they have 4speed auto compared to 5 speed in civic.
I have personally never driven a 4 speed. how does it compare? any ideas

      • I've got a 2005 honda accord euro, picked it up for around $5k around 1.5 years ago, it's a great car, no issues with servicing cheap on fuel, good to drive etc.
the newer ones probably have the features you're looking for. possibly 2008 and newer as I think that's the newer body shape.

        • Great. Thank you.

I was thinking euro models will cost way more to service and to run than normal accord models. I ll keep accord euro in my list. My gf likes that model anyways. :)

You and your gf wants buy new vehicles at the same time. You guys are certainly not poor guys.

    • just trying to be humble ;)
      atleast by username :D

      • Same

    • Also forgot to add that, we are not spending any more money. Just hoping to sell and use the same money to buy something we would be happier in.

Just my opinion but going from a 2013 car to a 2008 car would be a significant downgrade.

Why retro fit some rear parking sensors?

As for sat nav… A phone and google maps is going to be so much better!

    • Thanks for your reply.
The fiesta is giving us hard time with the transmission issues. Thats why we want to sell the fiesta and get something at the same price tag.

Dnt care much abt sat nav. Just a nice to have. Thats all.

Carsales website is a good place to start. I know you said you want experience comments, but use this to at least get a short list. This link is for ‘04+, Auto, up to 150,000km, Around $8k, min 100kw. At least have a look at what is available and what you like. Here are so many options that it would be easier to post a question asking, “I like X, Y and Z. What’s the best or what would be better.”

As for your other wants, parking sensors are nice but can be retro fitted to any car. Navigation is garbage on used cars as it won’t have been updated for years and would cost a small fortune to get it updated. 100kw is not really a lot if you’re looking at a bigger car.

    • Thanks for your reply. I like accord euro and civic better than corollas and camrys.
Which would u think will be a better buy?

  • Avoid These Ford Focuses I believe this is the auto gearbox

    • Even the older ones ?? I thought its just the 2012+ ones
There reason we are selling fiesta is the auto transmission problems

      • From what I've read you're right, around 2011/2012+. I was just checking you're aware the Focuses were affected

  • Don't worry about special features when looking for an $8k car. Cruise control is your big thing. You can add park sensors, Nav, auto lights easily later if they are that important. Of those, auto lights is probably the big one, and most cars at least have a warning buzzer for lights on now anyway if they don't auto off.

Don't worry about the kW figure either, just pick something that feels like it has enough power when you drive it. The most important thing is that the body style suits your purpose, but you haven't stated what you want there. Pick one (doesn't matter what reason) then start looking, it'll narrow down your search criteria a lot and make the job easier.

    • Thanks for the reply.

Never thought of installing it aftermarket. This is why forum works. Thanks a lot.
You just probably saved me a few hundred dollars by just your comments.

      Amazing
