Cashrewards Not Secure?

Tried to use cashrewards this morning and both google and safari saying not secure? Any ideas what is happening? Is it just my account or is anyone else having issues too?

Looks at first glance like they let their SSL cert expire.

  • I thought that too but isn't that TA, he would be all over it?

We're onto this, and will have it sorted shortly. Will keep you posted. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Serves you right for not using LE
And you call your self tightarse

      • +3

What do you mean? LE is only a domain validated SSL certificate and doesn't do email or code signing. I wouldn't be using that for a large website let alone one that pays out money to its customers.

Furthermore, why the attack on TA? You really think he's responsible for the website?

        • -1

It wasn't really an attack on him.

You'll also note that their cert is DV anyway, and not EV, so LE would be fine for it.
Maybe you can also learn the difference between SSL and TSL one day.

    Too tight to renew ay

  • I have been trying to use cashrewards for the past 30 mins only to find out it's down through ozbargain. Any idea when it will be up?

    • It's been down longer than that, I'm waiting for it to. Fingers crossed they sort out the certificate shortly

    • Seems to be back up now no security error

Anyone know any good deals on SSL certificates?

    • Small time or commercial? For the former free Let's Encrypt with a hosting provider that will do automatic renewals, e.g. VentraIP, search recent posts.

  • Unsure if this is related to the security certificate issue, but I'm still unable to log in at the moment, with the site returning a "This account is currently not subscribed" error.

    • I'm having the same issue :(

Hi. Yes, this is part of it, and the tech team is working frantically to sort this out. All I can do is apologise. Please bear with us.

    • Same here. But apparently not affecting all accounts as some of my friends can still login to theirs.
Hopefully it can be fixed soon since I really need to use the website to purchase something before the deal is expired :(

Yer I take back my site working post above. The site keeps timing out for me now. Suspiciously mainly when I want to click rewards to get my money out…
    @tightarse fix your dodge site

Thanks for your patience & continued support everyone. Happy to say the site is back up now & fully operational. Have a great weekend :)

For those interested, here's the official word from the tech team…

One of our SSL certificates expired today and when we attempted deployment of the new certificates (we have multiple across our applications & servers), the automation setup did not work as expected. This meant we had to manually deploy the certificates and update the servers one by one until all the issues were addressed & resolved.
