Claims may take up to 60 days to be processed and for a refund to be paid as stated on the website http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller.

In recent experience at BNE and DRW, there were either no TRS officers at the counter or the officers encourages passengers to submit by the form. Does it mean they don't need to check the items any more?

What the case in other airpots such as SYD, MEL? Are the forms always available or only available when the queue is long? The queue at SYD is always dreadful.

  • why not use trs app?

    • 10 tax invoices limit and you still need to go to the counter, as far as I remember. Maybe they changed it now?

The mobile phone app can only store a maximum of 10 tax invoices and multiple claim codes cannot be generated. Use the web app if you have 11 or more tax invoices and enter your invoices in batches up to 10 and print the QR code for each batch. You will need to present the multiple claim codes at the TRS facility when making your claim.

  • I have used this form twice after immigration in BNE (before duty free) being successful with a refund. I didnt have to show anyone the goods being claimed either time.

  • dont think theres forms yet in Melb. though it'd be a good idea, as the wait times are bloody horrid.

  • I wish I hadn't transited through BNE last month because the counters were closed and I had to claim using the paper form. No sign of a refund yet (over 30 days so far), whereas when I use the app and head to the counter in Sydney, I've always received the refund in a few days.
