Qatar Airways, What Am I Doing Wrong

Trying to book flights on Qatar airways from ool-man on 8th of June and coming back 28th of June, give or take a day is ok.

I get the price for $1300 ish, all is well.

Thought i will do the Qatar stopover program as I am pretty ancient and would love the break in the trip. Apparently they have where they chuck in a free hotel for a one night stay in return for the fact you will spend some coin in their country. So I add the stop over with multi city and the price goes up to $2300. Any savvy travellers work out what I am doing wrong here, see if they can solve this.

  It may be due to the availability of flights leaving the next day.

  Also - with the stopover program Qatar have, they only do this if your connecting flight is more than 8 hours long in transit. This also is based if there are any available rooms on the day you land in Doha.
