Which One to Choose between BMW X1 2011 and Toyota Camry Altise 2014

Hi folks,

I'm looking to buy my first car, I love both BMW and Toyota although I prefer the former. I have quite a tight budget and I'm wondering which one suits me better. Can anyone give me valid reasons to why I should I choose which?

Cheers,

thank folks for your fantastic sharing, yeah Toyota is a lot better for my circumstance, thank everyone.

I have quite a tight budget

Do you have money in reserve to service/fix the BMW?

    • @Spackbace, thanks for your reply, I don't really have it but I expect to use my weekly income. I don't know how much I should reserve for the purposes? Regards

i hope Spackbace can give you some good discounts on toyota :D

both are completely different cars, this is like asking do i want to eat a strawberry or a lemon?

Lemon, go for the lemon. But have extra money in reserve to service/fix your tastebuds.

Which One to Choose between BMW X1 2011 and Toyota Camry Altise 2014

is this a trick question? the camry, of course.

Cost of a car is the cost to keep the car not to buy it.

You already answered your own question with the words: tight budget. Get the Camry. Maybe nothing will go wrong with the Beemer but if something does then it sounds like you would be in a bit of a pickle. Save yourself the stress!

Get the Toyota - cheaper to maintain :)

why not wait for the 2018 camry? comes out next month in Australia

    • +3

According to carsales, OP's budget is ~$20k, brand new one would be at least $30k

      • Or OP could wait a year, save a bit more and buy MY17 second hand for 21-23k

        • Just depends on urgency I guess..

      • +1

Brand new Camry is $26,990 d/a

      • 2014 Camry Altise from fleet/government auctions would be $11-$13k

  • +4

Get the Toyota! That generation after the facelift looks quite nice, also cheaper maintenance + insurance can save you heaps!

    • when is the new global camry platform coming to aus? the quad tail pipes is a good touch

  • +4

I rather push a Camry than drive a BMW :)

Personally I'd go with the Toyota, which isn't about brand loyalty b/c AFAIC it's just a car, but I've heard quite a few ppl suggest that BMW can be expensive to service.

    What a feeling ! Toyota :)

Heart says Bimmer, Brain says Camry ;)

      What do the nads say?

    Ozbargain or Ozballer?

Something even more run down. 60% you're going to have an 'accident' in your first car.
