Xiaomi XiaoFang and Tinycam App (or Equivalent)

OK, XiaoFang came last night, and after much hair being pulled out, managed to get it sorted (damn you Mainland China setting), but then I discovered that my Yeelights (which I'd tinkered with and added another one) wouldn't work with Google Home, so have to go back to Singapore Server to deal with them, pair back with GH, then switch to China for the camera.

Needless to say, I went to bed halfway through lol

So, my question is, if I use TinyCam or equivalent app for the camera, will I need the Xiaomi app at all for it? Or can I just use that in Singapore mode for the Yeelights?

Anyone juggling multiple devices?

  • Once you install fanghacks onto your Xiaofang the xiaomi app doesnt work with it (from what i can remember). Also means two way audio doesnt work either (if you really wanted that feature), so to answer your first question - you dont need the Xiaomi app at all for the camera once you have installed the hack.

Be careful with installing the firmware, mine randomly bricked itself twice after about a week of use (bricked once and managed to fix then became bricked and unfix-able after another week)

    • Wasn't planning on installing fanghacks but then I haven't fully researched it

      • Ah, you need to install fanghacks to be able to use them with tinycam

        • Ah ok

        • @Spackbace: If you want to stick with the Xiaomi app you can use Mi Home (set to mainland China) for the camera, then use the separate Yeelight app (set to Singapore) to control your lights.

I didn't realise there was a separate Yeelight app lol

I need it to work with Google Home. Will it still work with the Yeelight app?

        • @Spackbace: Yes, it is a much nicer looking app too.

Cool cheers I'll check it out :)
