iPod Hard Drive - preferably 80GB

So my trusty iPod video hard drive has failed and so I am looking to replace it. Checked with some repair companies that do this sort of stuff, australiamp3repairs and podmedic and they were charging $180 for the repair for a 80GB version.
Now I know that it uses the Toshiba 1.8" hard drive and they must be pretty expensive compared the the larger versions but $180 is just a ripoff. Model no is MK8010GAH

So anyone replaced their hard drive before and if yes where did you buy the hard drive? Also if you used a CF card and an IDE-CF adapter was that easy to install and again where did you buy it from?

    • thanks mate
      looks reliable as well.

      • No probs! :)

  • also have a look on ifixit.com for instructions, however watch a youtube video too. a picture tells a thousand words, and sometimes they dont mention things

    • thanks for that, you see I already had opened it up and was looking to replace the battery and then the hard drive died. But not my fault, I blame Apple ;)

  • I'm sure I still have one here somewhere, my old 80GB got taken apart for some modding project a while back and I recall putting he HDD somewhere for safekeeping, just not sure where but I have a feeling I might know.

    • cool, if you find it then how much for it?

      thanks for the help!

  • If I find it then how's $50 + postage?
