the amount of effort people put into forums is ridiculous. Like if you want to get a useful answer, put some god damn effort and time into your question

  • Why? 100mb/s is fine unless you're looking to do something unusual, and then it's not a case of value for money, it's a case of need.

First of all i think you have the terms all mixed up.

The nbn offered in australia starts from 12 mbps up to 100 mbps, not MBps.

Secondly in order to suggest what nbn speed you should get, you really need to post more details about what you need it for and what not. simply having FTTN over FTTP doesn't affect the speed much, though that is dependant on how far you are from the node. For me i get about 23mbps for a 25mbps connection which is pretty decent.

Now in terms of what speed you should get, USUALLY 25 mbps is fine for a normal family, but if your family has multiple devices streaming or downloading content, 50 or 100 mbps is recommended.

    • My house is 300 metres from the node and i have about 5 people in my house we just use it to stream videos, work occasionally download and upload just want to know what is the best plan type to get i am tempted to get the boost which is 5Mbps and 25Mbps

      • From experience, you can stream two hd videos simulataneously and do work with a 25/5 connection. If you plan on streaming more than that at the same time i would recommend 50mbps

        • do you know any good provider that provides 50mbps cause tpg doesnt provide it

        • @FullName:

Aussie Broadband does 50/20, as well as 25/5 and 100/40. PM me for a referral code if you are considering signing up with them before 26th November.

sign up to aussie broadband to the first month free
    choose 100 plan
when connected login to modem check line stats to see what you sync at and whats obtainable, and do some speed tests
    choose plan /provider accordingly
