I have searched and didn't really find any existing topic about removal of old insulation and replace with better and newer products.
So here i am asking if any of you have had this done?
Our house was built in 1975 and the insulation is old. I want to have it remove and replace with something newer, for more energy efficient. We are located in South East Melbourne.
I google and found a few companies but thought i should seek for opinions here first.

Checked with council, all good.
Why would council know if it was asbestos or not? No way I'd be taking council's word on it (I'm surprised they would even venture an opinion on it actually).
At a minimum, have a professional trades-person who has experience dealing with insulation check it out (or an asbestos specialist would be even better).

I'm sure the people who undertaking the job will have an idea of what they're about to deal with.
We did exactly the same thing in May, our house is 40 years old. Whatever insulation the house had was also in very bad shape, so had it removed completely, did roof vacuum and installed Earthwool R5 grade. All up costed 3k (about 190sq.m house) but it was well worth the price.

I had that nasty blow-in cellulose fibre crap.
Wanted it out and replaced with batts.
Got a quote from a guy - then my brother offered to do it for slightly less in cash.
If I had the time again I'd have just gone with the professional. Its messy, dangerous and unpleasant work.
Can the new batts go straight over the old stuff?
