Coles Mobile Pre-Paid Plans - 3GB for $20 - 10GB for $40 - 35 Day Expiry

630

Hey all, first time poster, please be harsh.

Just received a text from Coles informing of updated pre-paid rates and cycles. Possibly to coincide with Belong's new (and from first-hand experience, hopelessly bungled) roll-out of their mobile service.

  • 3GB for $20 - 35 Day Expiry - Unlimited Calls & Text.
  • 10GB for $40 - 35 Day Expiry - Unlimited Calls & Text.

Plus 250 standard international minutes on the $40 plan to the following countries: mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, UK and USA.

35 Day expiry is the clincher for me, hope there's something for you in there too.

Edit as requested: To clarify, Coles, and therefore this offer, operate on the Optus network.

Cheers.

  • Got this text. Super thrilled. I tend to only use about 1.5GB in my 28 days so the extra week is fantastic. Probably won't make it to 3GB!

Finally they upgraded their plan but too late a lot of people already moved to amaysim groupon deal.

Hey all, first time poster, please be harsh.

Oh wow, bit of a masochist aint we? ;)

    35 day expiry is nice
Purely on the $ side, 15GB for $45 is better than 10GB for $40 (50% increase in data compared to 12.5% increase in price) BUT the 35 day expiry might push it back the other way
It's nice that there are now a few different options so people can pick what is important to them. Belong having the shaped data but Coles having a longer expiry period

    • I actually for the life of me can't work out what the billing cycle is on the Belong plans. Checked both T&Cs (including the super-duper second one only clickable from the first T&C pdf) and nothing. Let me know if I've missed it.

Also from personal experience, I'd actually just last night ported my personal number over to Belong's service, and whilst the internet and incoming calls/texts work fine, I'm unable to make outgoing calls and texts. Compound this with the fact that there is absolutely no number to call for technical issues, and it means that my support ticket is slowly making its way up the queue on an Indian computer screen while I'm unable to use the service.

Agreed though, if they iron out the kinks and offer a reasonable expiry, I'll certainly consider porting back over for the extra data.

      • I think you're looking too hard….
        It says /mth
after both the data and calls allowance

So I'm going to assume their plan is monthly no matter the days of the month, you'll renew on the same billing day.

        • I'd say you're right. Just thought it was odd that, in the absence of a couple of other assumed inclusions, the term isn't clearly defined anywhere.

        • @mustardNugget: I don't think the term is typically defined as such for any postpaid plan. They all just renew on the billing day, which is the same day of every month.

      • I got a bit confused with the billing day too. I bought a $45 sim because I wanted the bonus 15GB data. Thought I would have a month to change to the $30 a month level. But I got charged $45 only a few days later. At least the data adds up which is something (but didn't get my month worth of calls).

Maybe make a forum post with your experience if you get any news (will encourage others with the same experience to come forward - others can see if the problem is widespread and maybe avoid Belong)

      • I ported three family members to belong and yes the support ticket things a bit tricky. I did state Id like them to call me on m mobile number, and to their credit, I did get a call from an Australian person who fixed the problem in 2 minutes.

Service with Belong has been flawless since (ported across on day two of them opening)

  • They clearly do not want anyone to use their cheapest plan- $10-1GB- 10 day expiry- why do they bother having it at all?

      For visitor?

      • Nah in shaybisc's world there are no visitors!!

Users visiting the page purchase more of the middle option because of the two options on either side altering their sense of value than they would if only the middle option was presented.

Optus network - please add to the OP
I assumed it was Telstra Wholesale Network given you are comparing to Belong (I'm assuming Belong are using Telstra Wholesale?)

    • Belong = Telstra Wholesale = Telstra "Lite" (ie not quite full coverage)

    • JV, is that you?

  • I've got $80 credit on Belong Mobile.

  • Kogan needs to up their game

    • The current Kogan deal I think is 6Gb for $17.

      • permanent ?

        • No temporary and you have to buy the 365 day plan

  • Just did the maths.

Works out approx $17.39 per calendar month, with 2.6GB included.

Seems okay… But after Amaysims Groupon offer, etc, not keen at all.

Hey all, first time poster, please be harsh

    You're a mustard nugget

  • need to get their $2 sim to port ?

    or the $20 starter ?

  • Unsure if data rollovers, would be even greater if they had it.

shame there are no international minutes on the $30 plan! Would've moved from Woolies mobile if they did. But to be honest can just top up with an extra $5 or $15….

  • had to recharge mine on the 31st so I got 2 gig and 28 days. And doing it on the self checkout now takes about 20 buttons compared to 3 before.
Still it works better than Telstra at my home and other than the bungled overseas roaming I have 2 flybuy options get or use some for 2.50 off.

  • Not much data pass

  • Where dem data at?
