Looking for Car Suggestion (Budget $15k)

So another seeking advice. I am looking to buy a new car and I'm looking between Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3. Budget is around $13k to $15k. The less the better.I will be using it for Uber drive as well.

I'm choosing between 2014 Mazda 3 and 2015 Toyota Corolla. They are both around the same price. I'm only after auto. Sedan or hatch doesn't matter. I can get less kilo with Toyota Corolla. Which one should I go in terms of service and cheaper maintenance? I will be using it for 3 or 4 more years. Thanks !

    I'd suggest a 2014 Mazda 3 or a 2015 Toyota Corolla.

    A car with full insurance

  • The Mazda seems to have more doodads compared to the Corolla (comparing my Corolla to my cousin's Mazda 3)

That being said, Corollas are very reliable. Mine was 17 before I traded it for a new one

if you are using for uber, look for which car have better leg room at the back. Toyota tends to have better leg room and probably cheaper service unless you service it on local mechanic.

  • fiat have 0% interest thing for yonks now, could always neg a new fiat 500 down to 15k (drive away is 17k?).
Atleast will get good reviews from uber hipsters

    • Needs 2 more doors for Uber?

        I didnt know that

  • Toyota over the Mazda.

Better space in the back - few friends have Mazdas (2, and new 6) and the space is rather limited in the back.

Also, seems that Toyotas have ease of servicing while some of the Mazdas can get finicky over time (again, subject to maintenance).

  • test drive both maybe at a dealership :)

  • After searching a lot . I m into another lancer again :D i m looking at the 2014 lancer GSR version. it has a lot of features for the much lower price ( like 2000$ 3000$ less money than toyota or mazda) with 40k to 66k kilo on the car. Anyone recommend GSR lacer version? As my previous car was lancer and it never gave me problem.

    • If your talking about the newer lancer platforms (CJ,CF) series ES, VR, VRX, SX, RX, etc they are great to drive.
I drive a 2007 CJ VR auto and no issues with it. As long as it's on top of it's servicing schedule it will run fine.

      • I found one car that i like. My14.5 Lancer GSR still has 2 years warranty. Everything looks fine except there's a crack in the headlight plastic Not the lens and it's making the headlights foggy. Would it be the problem or will need to replace the new headlight?

        • If it's fogging up the headlights then it needs to be fixed or replace.

        • @SPCTRE: thanks for the reply. it's fogging up only the signal part. The interlayers of headlight plastic (not the lens )has a crack on it :(i have no idea how did it happens

Have you considered Kia. There warranty, service and roadside package makes it very tempting.
Out of Mazda and Toyota, factor in how long you will keep the car and devaluation. You might find a bigger loss from one to the other, when you go to sell.
Also make a list of what you must have and want you want and try to stick with it. Hope this helps and good luck
