Optus Can't Ring Any Numbers without Country Code?

Hi I have a HTC10 and recently switched from Amaysim to Optus now my phone won't ring out unless I use the country code.
Does anyone know what is going on and how I fix it?

Thanks

A bit more detail would be nice. Do you get an automated message? What you mean by "won't ring out"?

Which of these dialing methods work for local calls?

    #### ####
    (0#) #### ####
    +61 # #### ####

    Same question for national calls.

And which of the following work for mobile calls?

    04## ### ###
    +61 4## ### ###

  • Never noticed this, but then all my contact numbers have the country code in them.

  • I get the same issue on Optus, HTC10 unlocked Telstra handset? Tried different dialers And nothing works, total pita….

Should add I've a HTC I Ultra and its fine, calls oz numbers without prefix.

    • I fixed the problem I had VoLTE turned off. Optus clearly doesn't know how to configure VoLTE so you need to get them to turn it off.

  • Hi Guys
Thanks for your replies. When I call out I just get a short beep. Its just for mobiles I will test local calls later today.

    +61 4# ### #### - works
    04# ### #### - doesn't

Yes revmacca it is a HTC10 unlocked Telstra handset. This didn't happen on Amaysim only when I switched to Optus recently. It is very annoying I would love a proper fix but is there any way to change your whole phone book to add country codes?

This could be the Home Dialing settings:

    Settings > Call.
    Tap Home dialing settings.
Select a country, and then tap OK.

Hi I originally dismissed your comments because I already had Australia selected under "Home dialing settings" but I decided to change it to Albania, then change it back to Australia and bingo my phone works properly again. thanks this may fix yours too revmacca. :)

  • Not fixed, back to how it was before again. I did get 2 calls out without the +61 prefix? Wasted some time talking to a pointless optus chat robot. I think it may have something to do with VoLTE that activated when I switched from amaysim to optus. ANy help would be appreciated.

If anyone cares I fixed the problem I had VoLTE turned off. Optus clearly doesn't know how to configure VoLTE so you need to get them to turn it off.

  • Hi Dunc, just clocked your replied on my old HTC, I'm selling the HTC 10 so not really impacting me atm, good to know if I have the issue again.
