Looking for Fashion Stores in Japan

Hi guys, i'll be heading up to japan in January with a group of friends and wanted to ask about any clothes shops in japan. I'll be staying in tokyo and osaka and wanted to do a lot of shopping, are there any particular shops/shopping centres you guys know about that are a must go to? I'm really looking forward to buying japanese exclusive brands as i know their quality are superior than most of stuff we have locally. So far the only places i have my eye set on are gotemba premium outlet and dover st market in Ginza. I am a young male university student if that helps!
thanks

male or female? clothes there are good but generally not cheap. take a lot and head to harajuku and shinjuku. osaka has outside covered malls. best stuff i've found is in smaller places.

    • sorry male!

    • yea i've taken a look at online jp stores and damn they are pricey! but i've watched vloggers going thrifting and theyve found nice jackets for $10 or so. Would you have any names of the stores that caught your attention?

Honestly the bargain bin section of uniqlo can be pretty good. They get lots of limited edition stuff that never sells

        • I used to occassionally go to uniqlo at Mobara (east of tokyo). great stuff in their bargain bins. though even their largest sizes were just big enough for me.

Laforet in Harajuku and Marui in Shinjuku are the first to come to mind for me.

    • marui marui (also known as 0101) is pretty nice.

There are a bunch of preloved branded clothes and shoes in … I want to say a street in shinuya/shinjuku but I can't remember off the top of my head, branded Japanese clothes, the ones that I've seen are amazing quality, if you're looking for things like streetwear, bape, offwhite, supreme etc I can tell you where to find them too, just depends what you're after. Let me know and I'll have a look around, I went last year, so hopefully I can give back a little and help you out.

    • those are exactly the kind of brands i was after! if you could get back to me that would be great thanks!

    • same here, i cant remember the name of the shops or the chain but there are a few in Ueno too, selling second hand clothes from top brands. I bought some great brand clothes for kmart prices. have a look around the ameyoko market in Ueno. you'll find a lot of shoes and cheap china clothes, but 2nd level clothing shops you might have a chance.

I live in Nagasaki, and there are a chain of stores called "2nd Street". they sell both second hand clothes and some new independent japanese labels. i bought an awesome independent label shirt for about 2200Y, which is a good price. better quality than uniqlo, and a few steps above the quality.

Also, you:ll be here in the heart of winter, so all of the fashion will be for winter clothes. you have to come to Japan in July to get clothes more suitable for Australian weather.

  • Depends on your style to be honest, there is plenty shop to do! All over Tokyo! Lol You can find Boutique in Ginza, all the big brands.

from Ikebukuro to Meguro is where you find more street clothing an fashion.
Shibuya is a bit Japan Glam style. Harajuku is a bit crazy but you can find some cool stuff there!

  • Uniqlo

  • Uniqlo too.

  • Daiso in Shibuya

    • Ha. Went to Tokyo last year, and wife + 2 girls spent countless hours in Uniqlo & Daiso (and other 100yen shops).

      • Me too, they're fantastic!

Oh yeah, not sure how you feel about secondhand clothing, but it's pretty big over there. Try checking Closet Child Men's and Mode Off - both have websites.

    • yes, second hand clothing shops can be a boon.

    • yep i will definitely be checking out those 2nd hand stores! thanks for the info

  • go to supreme, atmos and bape and buy their stuff at retail and not the ridiculous ebay or grailed prices

    • would you know how i could find out if supreme/bape have drops on certain dates?

      • check hypebeast and all that, or i'm sure Reddit would have a sub that would have this information

  • I love Uniqlo. It is not clothing but you should also check out the huge electronics stores like Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera.
