Kinect Adapter for Xbox One S

Hiya,

Wondering if anyone knows where to pick up the kinect adapters for the xbox one S, MS have discontinued the supply so they are pretty rare these days.

I was thinking of getting one from the US but i dont know if the transformer can switch the voltage?

cheers

  • Pretty sure I bought one from the Microsoft Store along Pitt Street in Sydney a couple of months ago

  • You can get it from the Microsoft website https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-one/accessories/kinect/kinec…

    costs about 55

  • Kinetic is out of production and wont be supported soon.

  • I'm looking at getting one too, Amazon seems like the only option unfortunately. I was wondering about the voltage issue too and found this answer on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx34E7J7JVIESPU/ref=ask…

Hope this helps. I might contact Microsoft to double check.

  • got the same issue.

spoke to Microsoft support today and they were useless. Basically said tough luck.

That amazon one was 150 USD today when it was shipping to OZ. Now it's down to 69 USD but NOT shipping to OZ.

I was told by microsoft support that when i pre-ordered the xbox one x, it would include a kinect adaptor, have a record of the conversation and all.

    • Yeah I just discovered that the Amazon adaptor doesn't ship to OZ which sucks, that seemed like our last chance.

Interesting about Microsoft support saying it would come with an adaptor then not delivering!!

The prices on eBay are insane! I think there's an OZ version for $500 which is ridiculous.

  • This deal got posted today. $36 preowned at EB Games.

  • Spoke with MS, they are out of stock in Aus and wont commit to any new stock
Amazon are not shipping here for some reason

If MS are not going to produce it, i wish they'd just release the patent then and let someone in china make it for $20

    • Yeah i spoke to MS and got the same thing, very annoying. I'm looking at upgrading from the original XB1 to the XBX and although i know Kinect won't be supported for much longer, i still want to be able to use it. Hopefully they get more stock in.

  • I got a follow up from an EB email, they said its exclusive to MS in australia to sell retail (new) and MS aren't going to put it back on sale. Looks like ebay from OS (HK or US) is the only option. (or pay some joker in Melbourne $400+)

I've checked with a HK seller and they said its got a 110-240v transformer, obviously need a plug adapter.

    • Thanks for the update!

Very annoying that they're not going to put it back on sale.

I guess it's back to eBay.

      • Ebay sellers are selling them around 400 to 500 AUD…

are you sure you wanna get one at that insane price?

        • No way for $400 - $500 but i saw some international Kinect Adapters for closer to $150. Still triple the price which is a pain so i'm not sure whether i'll take the plunge.

        • @jtevans1991: I will wait till the price drops down under $100. or maybe buy it from Aliexpress.

        • @May23: they're back to being available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GVE4YB4/ref=od_aui_deta…

I picked one up on the weekend for $102, however it looks like they've dropped even further now to $74 AU plus shipping.

        • @jtevans1991: thanks for updating, good price, but already grabbed one from Aliexpress.

I was thinking of getting one from the US but i dont know if the transformer can switch the voltage?

I got an AU one a few months back, it came with about 4 different power plugs to suit different country's sockets, so I think it's designed to handle any kind of standard mains power.

  • what are they going to replace kinect with?

    • They already replaced the kinect with a big middle finger to their users.

  • Final update.

Bought one from a HK based ebayer, it was the US version, the power pack handles 240v no problem. It had a US power cord, I simply replaced that with a spare TV power cord I had lying around, it plugged into the power pack easily, no power adapter required.

If you want one, try the HK or US ebayers, don't go near the guy selling them for AUD$400+

    • Thanks for the update.

I grabbed one from Amazon (US version) which should get here next week.

Would you be able to send a picture of the tv power cord you had lying around? Or did you know what this type of cord is called? I'll need to look at getting one.

EDIT: does it look like this? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-mal…

      • that's the one. I just dragged mine out of the back of a broken Samsung tv.

        • perfect, i've got a few lying around at home too.

  • Not happy about this situation. I pre-ordered a Scorpio edition and assumed they would give out free adapters for people upgrading like the did the S. I bought a Day One Xbox One and got forced to get a Kinect. I also got an Elite, the only one I skipped was the S and now I have a paperweight because I can't even buy an adapter, unless I want to pay stupid prices.

MS really dropped the ball on the whole original Xbox One and Kinect. It's cost them this whole generation and pissed off loyal early adopters like myself

  • I searched some listing for Kinect Adapter for Xbox One S-

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-Xbox-One-S-Kinect-Adapto…

    Please suggest will it work…
    Thanks

  • I got 2 preowned Kinects from EB for $48 (was buy me get one free) and modded it to work via usb 3 and a 12v PSU. Works a treat on my One X

    • How you modded, Please share
